Not sure about the 2nd Gen but the original moto X also didn't have one until about a month down the road

I don't think it needs any update yet. It's running smoothly. I just hope the 6.0 update comes quickly like last year.

How fast do we get updates compared to nexus devices? I want to try new nexus 5x when they release it.

Depends on the size of the update. For 6.0 I'd say, maybe 3 to 5 week after? Won't take to long to optimize it for the X and make sure all of Moto's apps still work ok. Minor updates, like security patches and stuff, maybe a couple weeks after Nexus'? All depends on how fast Google moves with the updates. Even the Nexus phones run into delays from time to time. I think the 2014 X got Lollipop first or right at the time, though that didn't work out well.

I'm on a nexus 5 right now and there were times in the past moto x users got updates faster than I did. So I would say pretty quick

The fact that there is no out of the box OTA shows that Moto QA actually did their jobs instead of rushing a half-baked product out the door.

The very nature of them using pretty much stock also helps their cause.

How quick Motorola release updates for own devices? I have Moto 360 and for that device Moto does quick. But how about smartphones. Nexus 6 is different story.
