i'm finding out that the biggest problem with internal memory is android allowing various apps to save data onto partitions dedicated for such use (on internal memory)....AM I THE ONLY ONE THAT THINKS THIS IS SOOOOO STUPID WHEN YOU HAVE LESS THAN 1GB of internal storage??

omg this sucks.

does anyone know of an app or a hack to make android save application data onto a partition created on the SD card?

please let me know!

thanks everyone!

Why not just move the apps that you can to your SD card. Use the SD card to store apps and the internal memory to run the apps.

Couldn't be put any better. I'm rooted on deck rom and I can move every app besides some Google apps and have more than 300mb of internal memory free. Wife has 388mb left but she has 18 apps on her app drawer total.

this is already being done.
still super low on internal memory with minimal apps.
I'm not sure what you mean by "low", but when I was on the stock rom, even with a bunch of games and whatnot installed, I had quite a bit of space remaining on the internal storage space. If it's really annoying you, consider moving over to a custom rom, like CyanogenMod. That will allow you to move locked apps to your SD card as well (although you must do so judiciously, as you don't want your phone to stop functioning as a phone if the SD card is removed... :p )

Am I the only one who actually understands this question? The problem does not lie in the apk file itself (the app) but actually in the /data/data/ folder (the app data). When you move an app to the SD card, it only moves the apk file not the actual app data. Like the saved data and the decompressed data that it copies over when its first run. He is asking if there is a way to copy the files from /data/data/ to the SD card and still have the app run with the files on the SD card and not the internal storage. I am also having the exact same problem. I have less than 200Mb of memory on my internal storage. And I am wanting some games that copy over 30mb of data to the internal storage. Since I have a very small amount of internal storage I want that to go to the SD card instead of internal storage. The question is... is there a way to do that?

Create an ext4 partition on your SD card and use a program like Link2SD to link your apps there. That should free up some space. You have to be rooted for that method to work, of course.

There are a few different a2sd methods that allow you the flexibility to move app data to the SD card, but performance invariably suffers due to the slowness of the device and lackluster SD read/write speeds.
