Is there any way to remove touchwiz

- I haven't noticed any more popups during YouTube playback.
- What does the screen capture button get in the way of? I've only hit it once and that was to see what it does.
- Then don't use it. I'd like to see it customizable but until then it stays hidden. I'd like to know why simple calculators don't have % buttons, though. Drives me nuts!
- Boatload? Hell, I forgot they were there.

The last two I won't bother to comment on. I don't see anything listed that would make me give up my Tab or sway anyone's decison from buying one. If anything the update has fixed quite a few issues I had with it. Your comments seem a bit extreme, but if I paid $500 for something I'd want to be happy with it.

[I did not think there is any way to get me to register with Android Central. ;0)]

I installed Touchwiz because the podcast from AC on Thursday was so high on Touchwiz for the Samsung Tab.

I cannot stand the Touchwiz installed for the Samsung Tab. I have gone from loving the Samsung Tab 10.1 and now telling all my friends not to bother. I may just sell my Tab 10.1 on eBay and get the Thrive or wait until the Lenovo tablet comes out.

I am amazed at how klutzy the Touchwiz is. If there is no way to go back to stock, this will be the last Samsung product I ever buy. (Canon refused to send me a printer rebate in 1993, and I have never bought another Canon product.)

I am still upbeat with Android Central, but seriously the portion of the podcast on Touchwiz for the Samsung Tab 10.1 was a major lapse in judgment.

What I hate about Touchwiz for Samsung Tab 10.1:

--more ads pop up (e.g., when watching YouTube)
--persistent screen capture button on bottom toolbar just gets in they way
--carousel installed at bottom to useless Samsung apps.
--boatload of Samsung apps installed that I don't like
--Task Manger app. has an "End All" option that does not close all the active apps.
--changed the options button for options w/in applications

IF YOU ARE THINKING OF DOWNLOADING TOUCHWIZ, THINK HARD ABOUT THE CHOICE FOR YOU. I have shifted radically from a huge fan of the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 (I have bought 2) to wishing Samsung nothing but ill.

I apologize...you are entitled to your opinion. Sometimes we, as Android fans, can be very defensive of criticisms of the platform.

I curse Samsung's engineers every time my finger hits the stupid screen capture button. They succeeded in getting users to think of Samsung. They should now turn to working on getting users to think of Samsung positively.

And from what I've seen around the net yours is a minority opinion. . . .

Yes, my view ("Samsung layed a smelly egg with Touchwiz") may be a "minority" view. Isn't that the point?

I can complain about Touchwiz. (The name, BTW, sounds like someone grabbing piss.)

If I wanted to buy the "majority" tablet (the overpriced product for what you get where the manufacturer wishes to channel your every move) for which there is a Greek chorus of users chanting that the user experience is good (even thought the software is wildly frustrating), I could buy . . . an Apple iPad.

I would have expected some tolerance of criticism if you wer a true Android enthusiast. I would have anticipated that someone would at least recognize the irony when fans of a Samsung update seek to drown out a "minority" view.

Did you fly into a rage as soon as you read that and miss the rest of my post? Your complaints aren't even real criticisms, it's mostly just unsubstantiated whining.

Let's run down your list of complaints one by one:

Complaint: More ads while watching youtube.
Solution: As others have pointed out this seems to be mostly a figment of your imagination. Regardless, it is possible to block almost all ads just like on a pc. Root and install Adfree Android, problem solved.

Complaint: Always hitting the screen capture button.
Solution: Multiple solutions are available, root and freeze and/or remove the app using Titanium backup. Install a rom which has the feature disabled (DocRamBone's slim TW rom).

Complaint: Boatload of Samsung apps you don't like.
Solution: Ignore them, don't use them, uninstall them, or install a rom that doesn't have them.

Complaint: Task manager doesn't end all apps.
Solution: You shouldn't be using task managers to end apps in the first place.

Complaint: Changed the options button for options w/in applications.
Solution: You got me here, I don't even know what the hell you're talking about.

Again, I've already outlined the steps that need to be done to revert back to stock 3.1 or whatever rom you want. And accusing me of not being a "true android enthusiast" for not tolerating your "criticisms" is laughable, one difference between me and you is, you whine on forums while I use them to find solutions to fix the things I don't like.
