Is there anyway to detect current battery capacity?

I use an app called Accubattery and it gives me a battery health reading after I charge my phone. I noticed ever since I started using the Anker Powerline USB cable, due to losing my Samsung cable, the battery health reading has drastically decreased. It says the battery capacity is now 3,399 mAh instead of 3,500. Should I trust this reading and is there a way to accurately measure the current capacity of the battery? Thank you.

I would go in to the app settings, clear the cache and data, and then try again and see what happens.

Accubattery should become more accurate as you charge more. It'll have more charging sessions in the future and it can make a better calculation of your remaining capacity.

I have a regular s8 and started of with 3003 mAh but then it decreased to 2700 mAh (in 3 weeks of possession) . Now it's increasing again. Take everything with a pinch of salt.

I think a cable won't effect battery health because the power adapter regulates the current. The cable shouldn't make a difference. It'll only make a difference in charging time if the cable is really long.

Actually, considering the length and gauge of the cable, it's the phone that determines the charge. (When the battery is nearly charged, the charging current is very low.)

Charge the phone to "100%" (which, due to the way we have to measure State of Charge, is probably 97%-98%), then leave it on the charger for another half hour, to fully charge it.

After a few discharge/charge cycles, check the "health" again. (A lot of what they claim on their Play store page is a bit "wrong".) If you're going to take the battery out of the phone for long-term storage - which you can't do with your phone - you'd leave it at 50%, but charging it to 100% - a real 100% - doesn't shorten the battery life (according to Cadex, the largest battery testing company in the US, and probably the world).

I sometimes plug the Anker cable into the adapter the S8 came with but I also plug the cable only into my Huntkey USB wall outlet. I use a 3ft USB cable.

K and do you charge like overnight or do you top up during the day? I've noticed with accubattery that it'll show that the phone is charging after the phone hit 100 %. It will show a more accurate estimated capacity but charging to 100 % isn't the best for the battery. I try to charge it to 80-90 % as it will increase the longetivity of the battery. Accubattery will show a lower estimated capacity though.

I charge between 82-92% during the day. I never charge to 100%.

that's a good idea. It's hard on the battery if it gets charged to 4.3V. (which is what they consider 100%)
