Android Central Question
This problem has been absolutely heartbreaking to me and the absolute worst technology nightmare I think I've ever faced. When I was on a long road trip, I was using my Samsung J3 V for music, and all of the sudden, when I was like half asleep, this absolutely STUPID error screen comes out of nowhere (apparently this is called "the black screen") in like NINE point font, I had no idea what was going on, and before I knew it I literally had a mental breakdown as it said "erasing android".
I know this is besides the point, but there were some absolutely IRREPLACEABLE photos on there, I didn't back them up on PC because I'm an absolute moron, I didn't back them up really anywhere (unless verizon cloud just does that automatically, because I set nothing of the sort up)
disk digger and other recovery apps couldn't recover a single photo, but from what I understand you need to root it to better recover it. tried doing that and it failed to root, and now I'm learning that rooting is terrible and just aaaaRGUH!
But just to be clear, in a factory wipe, that data is absolutely paper shredded essentially right, beyond even rooting it? it's not like normal deletion where it goes into what is basically an unreachable recycle bin until something else overwrites it? I flat out stopped using my phone for weeks now in fear of a single byte of new data overwriting anything.
Geek Squad wants an absolutely freaking absurd $300 for recovery, which is little under twice what the entire phone costs, and IDK if they do some absolutely CSI **** to get it back better than anything else but I assume not. I do remember watching a Vsauce vid on some photographer who had her laptop stolen, thief wiped it for personal use, she got it back and data recovery experts were able to recover her work, even if it was corrupted. That is the only reason I have any hope still, if there is so much as a single damn thumbnail corrupted beyond recognition I want it back at all costs basically.
