Was wondering if verizon is planing on making a maxx 2? Not sure if i wanna get the new moto x... but id rather have the bigger battery if verzon is going give us another taste of the maxx line.

And nary even a vague announcement that a new Maxx is even in the works. Just lots of speculation by us.

I have been dying to hear anything about the new Maxx. I have to assume we will get one eventually, but the question is how big will it be? I love that the current maxx is only 5 inches. Sadly, I could see the next maxx being 5.2-5.5.

I'd be good with 5.2 as long as the overall size doesn't get much larger.

5.2, 1080p, slightly bigger battery to accommodate for it and a WAY better camera. The more I use the camera on my Maxx and compare it to others like my mom's Note3 and friend's iphone I realize how much it sucks, especially in low light.

Shouldn't we be hearing leaks about the next Droid Maxx by now? Just seems like whatever is cooking, nothing has leaked out. I would have expected the new Droid Maxx to be on shelves by the end of September, but that is looking more and more unlikely with every passing day.

There were a ton of leaks on the new X, but barely the slightest hint of a new Maxx.

There weren't any leaks about the 2013 Droids until they were announced. I think that Verizon jumped the Moto X announcement last year - the Droids were announced a week earlier with all of the fancy stuff the Moto X ended up offering later.

I can think of many reasons why Verizon is holding off a bit - trying not to compete with a bunch of new handsets from Moto (the new X), and Samsung (Note 4); maybe they decided to wait to release with Android L (unlikely). Maybe they're just not going to do Droids this year and just concentrate on selling other company's stuff (unlikely). Or maybe they will announce the week after the new iPhones hit the stores (probably Sept 19 if Apple's history continues). This is a busy month for carriers, I'm sure. Last year Motorola was ready in August.

YOu'd think they would at least want to get the word out for people thinking about new phones to perhaps prevent them from getting something else in the mean time. Granted 80% of cell phone buyers probably have no clue what they want until they get to the store and see what exists other than knowing about new iphones

Just a thought...is a 5" MAXX with dedicated capacitive hot keys really the same screen real estate as a 5.2" MAXX with on screen keys? I mean don't the on screen keys wipe out the benefit of a .2" increase?

That seemed about how the G2 got to 5.2".

I would like to know if... the leaked specs for the "Droid Turbo" is actually the Nexus 6, if Verizon will be getting the N6, or if the codename "Droid Turbo" is in fact the Droid Maxx 2, or the specs be similar.

The 2nd gen Moto X is a great price for those who are looking to buy an affordable phone outright, but it pretty much has last years specs. If Moto does release a phone with a Snapdragon 805, I hope it will be in the Maxx 2.

Comparing the new Moto X to the next Maxx is a slap in the face to the Maxx. Battery life is not even close on those two phones, and that is one of the biggest benefits of the Maxx.

Very disappointed. I am due to "Edge up" at the end of September and was sure there would be a new Maxx ready by then, but alas it doesn't look like that will happen. Of course I still love my 2013 Maxx, but I am getting that itch to get something new.

Droid Life has some new information concerning what appears to be the next Droid Maxx - click here

It appears the new phone will have a spec-bump over the new Moto X and will include a 3500 battery and wireless charging. It looks like an awesome phone and as much as I love my current Droid Maxx I might be tempted to upgrade.
