Is there really lag and battery issues?

1) I have a D851 version. When I first got my phone i understood EXACTLY what the individuals with lagging meant by G3's lagging

That's why I always qualify things when I say that I have no lag.... I've loaded a custom ROM and Kernel (both from SkyDragon), fiddled with a few kernel options, including undervolting the phone 100mv across the board, then I bumped the min CPU speed up to 1190mhz.... on top of rooting, replacing the launcher with Google Now, fiddled with the animation settings, etc....

So after all that, the phone is pretty damn snappy and smooth now and rarely ever gets hot. "Yeah, but is every user expected to have to jump through the same hoops to get a phone without lag?" Dunno.... as I said, I put the phone up on blocks and dropped the engine within minutes of getting it, but that's what I do.... I didn't do it to fix any performance issues, I just did it because I like to get down into the bowels of any phone I have and put my fingerprints on everything.

I have a T Mobile version. First one I got overheat shutdown when I was watching movie full brightness. Then LTE data was wonky

I got it replaced and 2nd phone no problems.

Battery is better than my Galaxy S4.
My eyes got used to this screen so SAMOLED display looks weird to me

I like LG over Samsung. Imo the design much better

Well.... The meaty parts of Project Volta seem to involve better handling of wakelocks... i.e. when your screen is off. Any any improvement there will be of benefit, but that's for every Android phone, not just the G3. The reason why the G3's battery doesn't last as long as the G2 (same battery) isn't because of the idle drain.... it's that screen. L isn't really going to be able to do anything about that to be honest.... the screen's the screen and any improvements that come will be because LG fiddled with some drivers and the kernel and not the Android system specifically.

So yes, we'll see improvements with Android L (but every phone will see the same benefit), but it won't magically reduce the QHD screen's power needs down to what the 1080 screens need.

I am a phone junkie, since January I have had the Moto X, m8, Galaxy s5, and the LG G3. I also have an iPhone 5s because I like both ecosystems for different reasons.

Lag - IMO I have not experienced any lag on the G3, especially coming from the Galaxy s5, that phone stuttered all the time. I hated it.

Battery - I don't think the battery is as good as the Galaxy s5 when the screen is on. HOWEVER the standby time is far better IMO. I am rooted and downloaded an Xposed module to help with wakelocks. After 15 hours off the charger sitting idle yesterday I was still at 96%. I have screen shots at home that I will attach later for proof.

Screen- Very good, however 1440p isnt a noticeable difference from 1080p and I feel the clarity on the Galaxy s5 screen is better. I also feel the colors/color accuracy on the m8 and iPhone 5s are significantly better.

All in all its a fantastic phone with 0 major flaws IMO. It is the 2nd best designed phone I have used ever (Moto X is still my favorite), the form factor and rear buttons are simply top notch. The biggest complaint I have on the phone is the charging port, yes the port. It is the most finicky. I have tons of Micro-USB chargers and only half of them work all the time with this phone. However they all worked flawless on all my other phones/tablets. Not sure why.

Also coming from the Samsung note series... My first foray into the LG world.! First impressions are very good! I love the fact that lg has made a phone with large screen real estate yet a small(er) form factor. 5.5in screen but the phone feels much smaller to me. Have had no issues with lag, battery life...unsure so far, as I am on my first charge. The display is fantastic. Samsung does tend to over saturate, but this looks just right. I also like the camera. I am not one to tweak settings for my phone camera. I just want it to take decent pictures with little adjustment. Overall I am very happy with this phone. The Note 4 would have to be mind blowing to make me go back. I was considering the Note 3 or this, and as the g3 is the newer of the two, and I really like the form factor, and the power/volume controls on the back(big plus), went with the g3.

Its going to be interesting to see how I like the update process of this phone compared to my past experiences with android, which were nexus devices. For example, this phone is still on 4.4.2 on att. I'm hoping LG releases .3,.4, and eventually L 5.0 quickly.

Oh yeah, I don't expect L to magically eliminate the 2K battery and performance. I was just saying I'm hoping it improves it is all in a meaningful way. Or at least a noticeable way

I'm unfortunately on the AT&T model and will continue to monitor lazybandit's PMA/QI threads on XDA (G3 Accessories) with great interest.

Yes me too, that or try to find a Qi back cover at a decent price and not like $100+ .

Oh, I'm sure it will. I've fiddled with a lot of the stuff Google intends to touch with Volta... And I've reduced my idle drain a significant amount, so I know what Google is getting at and it'll be extremely well received.

My point was that the G3 does a pretty good job as is in that area, so improvements will be tempered a bit. I mean, my old S3 would chew through batteries at a good 5% an hour clip at times. That's where Volta will do it's best.

Why would u need those? They aint even real updates.

Blame your carrier! I have qi on my g3.

They only sell the 2GB/16GB version here in the UK. Is it worth importing from Germany, the 3/32GB model? I heard that due to the large framebuffer, the 2GB version doesn't have that much free RAM so there's issues when multitasking.

My g3 battery has been acting really funny these last few days. It's been good ever since I got the phone (3gb German version) but yesterday it completely died on me. I've downloaded gsam.battery app and it shows nothing abnormal as far as I can see app usage is high but then the second screenshot shows it all broke down. Anyone have a clue. I've noticed that the battery drains very quickly even on sleep but there's nothing. Running in the back. Would be grateful if someone can help out!!!
