Is waterproofing really that important to you?

Top Spec Phones these days have the waterproof thing, which has become a must of them !!! Bad that Google dint implement that thing in the pixels !!!

Waterproofing would have been a nice feature to have but it is not necessarily very important. A phone can do fine without Waterproofing but The Pixel is in the same market as S7 and iP7 and both if them have it. The Pixel with the same price should have had water resistance but as I said it is not really important and I can do just fine without it.

It would be nice but no big deal. I'm rough on phones so I always have a hefty case which provides enough protection in case of rain or whatever

Reviewers only started making it a con because of apple look at all reviews before iPhone 7

LifeProof is making a case for Pixel so no waterproofing needed for this phone. I have boats and am on the water all the time. I keep my note 5 and Nexus 6 in dry bags that allow me to use the phone and prevent them from getting wet.

Never once did I feel like needed a waterproof phone outside being on the water

When I got my S7 I thought it was just a nice bonus. Then I dropped it in the sink one day when it rang while doing dishes and I've never done that. Now that said I answered it with wet hands knowing that it was water resistant and in the past with other phones I wouldn't have tried. Rinsed it off and dried it, no issues.

I think its a nice feature to have and for the price they are charging I think it should be built into it.

You need a phone that floats lol.

For me, total water resistance is not a big deal. But, the ability to withstand rain and the occasional spill IS. It's a big enough deal, in fact, that it will absolutely factor into my decision on my next phone. Fortunately, I'm not buying soon, so I'll have time to see longer term results on this phone.

Mistakes happen, and over the years I have had my issues with praying to the cell gods that may be as my phone was buried in a bag of rice. Losing a $400 phone because you are in a rainstorm/toilet/pool hurts, losing an $900 investment is just painful.

The Pixel is new but I can imagine going forward not much is going to differentiate the iphone, galaxy and pixel other than your user preference. And with all things being equal if I am going to drop $1000 on a phone knowing one of the options carries some water protection its a factor.

Love and want it since Samsung made it available with the S5.

What I don't get, is it really that difficult to make it Water Resistance. I'm sure Apple could've done it a long time ago but again why put all your eggs in one basket. When people complain why the iPhone 7/Plus doesn't have Wireless Charging...think!

Anyways, yes it. I get it you don't need to take it with you in the shower but if you can why not. Also, it's ONE LESS THING TO WORRY ABOUT not voiding your warranty.

Reminds me of when they say Wireless Charging isn't necessary either. Again, it's not that difficult and you're against so much (don't know why) then don't use but for me I love it as well.

I do not avoid buying a phone because of waterproofing, but all else being equal I would choose the device that is. I am very careful not to get my phones wet anyway, but it will help with protection from accidental dunking or spills. It also helps with moisture problems when you have your phone in the bathroom while taking a shower for example.

For me it's a nice to have with my iPhone 7 plus but by know means is it a deal breaker if a phone doesn't have water proofing.

I'm okay without it, am glad it has a water resistance rating. I like midrange phones. After I lost my glasses in a lake, I would have rather it been my Nexus 5x.

I think that the very idea that phone manufacturers are going to the lengths to engineer phones that are IPx8 rated indicates how much of a problem phone wetting is perceived to be in the market.

Sitting in a NYC bar last weekend, I had a full glass of water knocked over right onto my Note 7 (and, no, not to extinguish it, smartasses). If that had been my S6e, it'd be a question if that would have been a problem, and with my S4, it DEFINITELY would have been an issue (ask me how I know). But, since it was the Most Beautiful Phone I Ever Owned, I just wiped it down with the same bar rag that the bartender was using to mop the bar, and it was fine.

Remember, much like driving, it often doesn't matter how careful YOU are with the phone. How careful are your fellow humans, and Mother Nature?

Waterproofing wasn't a thing until this year. Never needed it in the past. Don't need it now.

Thank the lord we didn't have this attitude about 128 gb of storage, screen sizes larger than 4", faster processors, quick charging, wireless charging, NFC chips, higher res screens, etc.....
