Is wireless charging on my desk bad?

I have a wireless charging pad that sits on my desk at work. When I am not using my Pixel 3, I place it on the charging pad to keep the charge topped up throughout the day. I am also using the phone all day long so I pick it up, do my thing and then when finished I put it back on the charging pad.

My question is can this constant on and off the charger all day do any harm to the phone or negatively impact the lifespan of the battery?

Theoretically it can, however your phone and charger have things in place to mitigate it. What you're doing is slightly better for it than the people who run it way down and then do a deep charge back up.
