Mine's currently rooted just so I can use lightflow, tap to wake, and Franco. Other than that I really don't need root. I'm just curious how many are rooting their Nexus vs not Rooting? I like tinkering but sometimes nothing feels better than running stock android without any mods under the hood.

Not rooted. Going to as soon as warranty expires. And it's thru Verizon so rooting would, in fact, void warranty.....

Its a nexus, you have to root it baby. Honestly its so easy on these things that I don't even know if its possible to brick one.

Not sure why you'd own one and not root it.
I'm not rooted yet... I mean if I found a good reason to root I would. I don't use light flow at all, the double tap to wake feature sounds cool, but I've also heard that is very inconsistent and doesn't work too well. Plus ambient display ok the nexus 6 which works much better than I thought it would.

I was rooted on the nexus 4, but my current banking app does not work if I'm rooted, so no.

I haven't unlocked or rooted ....yet .I'm will eventually :)

Unlocked and rooted. Got tired of waiting for AT&T to let an update happen so I unlocked and flashed a 5.1.1 ROM. Was good for a week or two but restored by backup and have been enjoying stock rooted with franko but 5.1 ;(

Yeah I rooted to get light flow to get the notification light. Tap 2 wake is inconstant, but it works reasonably well. Tried a few custom roms but usually go back stock after a few weeks.

I am...and running the Benzo ROM. Couldn't b3 happier!!!

See now, that's the only reason I would legit root my Nexus 6. But trouble to have to wake feature but just like you said, and I've seen it in every YouTube video in the world, its so inconsistent that it doesn't even make it worthwhile if you know what I mean. And it's not like you even like you need a custom ROM on the phone either , as far as a software updates I'm fine

I think I've rooted my last 5 phones and several tablets, but on the Nexus 5 I found myself not really caring except when I wanted to flash the sexy new L preview. The N6 is so good I haven't even bothered, although if I had the free time to flash the M preview obviously I'd have to.

The irony for me is that I was desperate for root on the Droid X to fix the crappy software, and the Galaxy Nexus I also was grateful to root and ROM in order to improve it, but despite how easy it is to root Nexus devices there's been a steady decrease in the need to do so, at least for me. Maybe it's Android maturing as an OS?

Of course! It's a Nexus!
Rooting, Custom recovery, Roms galore, kernels, radios! That's what the awesome Nexus is all about.
