For me, I kind of have to choose devices based on whose services I use more. I used to be all about iTunes on my Mac and being able to sync everything with all my i-devices was a huge perk over Android at the time, but now that Google has integrated everything like Drive, Music, Gmail, YouTube and Voice plus they have a social network I like better than Facebook, switching to Android was the best thing I ever did.
So while I still love the designs of most of Apple's products, I'm just more entrenched with Google services now and there's no use for an iPad or iPhone in my tech arsenal anymore. I think as more people start attaching themselves to such services (be it Apple, Google or Microsoft), they will find it harder and harder to have arguments about whether the iPad is better than such and such Android tablet or the Microsoft Surface and instead will just get what they need for whatever ecosystem they employ for their daily life.
