Issue with Charging

My daughter has a SCH-i405 Stratosphere and it will not charge without having to bend the cord under the phone and apply downward pressure on plug, then, the phone might charge, might not charge. I know it is not the cable, because it works fine with my Droid. I think the charging port might have an issue and was wondering how hard it is to replace the charging port from one motherboard and swap it out. Is the port hard connected to the motherboard with solder or can it be unplugged? Any help would be greatly appreciative.
