Issue with closing all tabs in Chrome

Not sure if this is a chrome issue or a samsung issue. So on my phone (M8) if i close all the tabs in my browser, the chrome app stays open with the option for me to just open a new tab or go into the menu (ellipsis). However doing this on my tablet closes the app entirely, so i have to re-open the app, or make sure i open a fresh tab before i close the last full tab.

Is this an intended feature? or is there something wrong with my chrome app.

Correct.

If I close all tabs on my phone however, I get this screen that I attached. I would have expected the app to behave the same way on my tablet.

My Tab S and S5 both do this (ie, close the browser). My S3 didn't... it annoyed me when I first upgraded, now I don't stress at all.

So not sure what happened, but now its not having that problem. I didn't see any updates from chrome come in at all. I never restarted so i have no idea what fixed the issue.

I was having the same issue, found out its due to an option in settings,merge tabs and apps needs to be turned off,

As you can see if its turned on then then any websites that are opened in new tabs wont show and wont close



but if its turned off then the tabs become visible and can be closed

Switching off "Home page" in chrome settings on my S7 solved the problem.

Wow! Turning off "home page" worked for me too. Thank you for letting us know. I hated that chrome would close just because I was done with what I was doing and wanted to start a new search . Thumbs up!

Thanks I was so annoyed with this and all I had to do was turn off home page lol
