Issue with Notifications Needing to be Cleared Twice

I am having an odd issue with my Pixel 3xl that randomly came about about 3-5 days ago. When I get a notification, no matter how I open it (whether by pulling down the shade and clicking it or by going directly to the app), the notifications icon remains in the status bar. However, as soon as I pull down the notification shade, it immediately disappears. Bottom line is that the shade needs to be pulled down after I check the notification in order to be cleared (but note that the act of pulling down the shade clears it instantly - i.e. I don't need to actually swipe it away).

Of note: I use Nova Launcher Prime as well as Fluid Gestures. However, I used both of these before the issue arose, and disabling Fluid Gestures does not make the problem go away.

Interesting. I switched back to the Pixel launcher and that solved it. So it's definitely a Nova thing. I'll play with some settings and report back.

Nevermind, that didn't solve it. It worked to clear a text message but not an email.

I'm on NL too and have that happening. They do seem to clear after a few seconds on their own most times (I say most times because I haven't been super attentive to it each and every time.)
