Issue With Phone # and texting

First day I got my captivate I entered one of my friends number in my phone incorrect by one digit.

Now when I text him it will send it to the correct phone number.

When he texts me back it will show up as the incorrect number with the one wrong digit and I can't text him back from that thread.

I've tried deleting his name and re-entering. I've also changed his name completely and started it all from scratch. Tried syncing him up with my G-Mail and Facebook and that still wont work.

Any suggestions?

Do you have the wrong number under the call log too? Maybe try deleting that.

I've deleted all of the numbers from the call log.

When he texts me back it initially shows up with his name and real phone number but when I open the thread it pulls up the wrong phone number.

Went back and deleted everything that he was listed under and started from scratch again. Still nothing. I don't really want to deal with doing a complete reset if at all possible.

Maybe my best option is to just add all my contacts go my GMail and do the reset.

I'm wondering the same thing. Remember it can be saved to the phone, through Google, Facebook, Twitter, etc. Check them all, I've had that problem a few times myself.

His name is not linked anywhere else. I had entered it the first time with no sync set ups to Google, FB or any of that.

Made his name and number. Deleted it when I saw it was wrong then re-entered.

When I call him the correct number shows up. When he calls me it goes through. When I text him first it goes through, when he texts back it shows up with the wrong number and I can't text back in that same thread.

It's just a nuisance.

Which application do you use to text- is it the phone's, or an application from the marketplace?

Do you have any other enhancements (i.e. info widgets)?

I don't know the solution, but I have the same issue with a contact that I entered incorrectly. This problem is not unique to you or your device.

Under settings > application > manage application maybe try deleting all the storage assigned to contacts? You'll need to allow viewing of system apps I think on stock 2.1 (I'm running a different rom). AoN

I can't see any storage/ files that would hold that information.

I've gone and deleted all activity I can find with that wrong number.

I tried linking the wrong number to the correct number and made the correct number the default as well. This issue is an annoyance beyond belief.
