Issues Syncing with Exchange

Yes...

I am NO techie but I got my Droid X to sync with Exchange 2003 in just a couple of tries. Ten days later, my IT manager asked me whether the Droid X complies with security regulations that require his ability to do a remote wipe if I lose the phone. At about that time, I started getting connection errors. I've tried all the fixes suggested here and still no luck.

A techie friend suggested I try to connect via the internet (using https:\\.servername.com/exchange), and if that didn't work the trouble was at the server end. It didn't work. I suspect I've been locked out because of the security risk, but I haven't been able to talk to Mr. IT to confirm this.

So my question is about security compliance. Can anyone tell me if the Droid X can be wiped by my administrator? If not, I will have to return it and choose something else. I have 2 weeks to do that.

Any help would be appreciated. (including directions to a thread dealing with this specific question if there is one.)

Thanks, eye-gee

When 2.2 comes out the Admin will have the ability to wipe the phone and enforce a security code to unlock the phone.

Hi all I haven't had a chance to go through all the posts but I am able to get on exchange just fine on touchdown but it expires in a few days and I'd really rather not have to buy it. Here is what is happening.

I tried putting my username in with and without the domain. I am just putting in the address webmail.domain.org for the server. One weird thing is when I go to add the account it says "Error adding account..the cert from the server is not validated. Do you want to disable verifying certs for this account?" When I click disable verification it says "login to the account failed, please try again."

Anyone have any ideas? I was able to sync up first try with Touchdown.

Thanks..

From Matt in the Motorola forums: -I requested my license this morning, and I have proper push exchange email.

First, I want to thank everyone for their help and patience as we worked though this. Much appreciated.

Some Droid X users are experiencing an issue using Exchange 2003 email. Though the email is arriving on the Droid X, no notifications are appearing. A fix for this will be included in the upgrade to Android 2.2 scheduled for deployment by early September.

In the interim, many owners have reported success using Touchdown from NitroDesk, Inc. to manage Exchange email. Touchdown appears to provide email notifications.

Motorola does not support Touchdown in its call centers or guarantee Touchdown. However, we are working with Touchdown to provide Droid X owners Touchdown licenses (supplies permitting) that can be used to get Exchange 2003 email and notifications on the DroidX.

To request a Touchdown license from Motorola, please send an e-mail to level3@mailwc.custhelp.com, and include the following information.

Your email address
Your name (for validation purposes)
Your Droid X cell number (for validation purposes)
Your Droid X DEC and HEX MEID numbers ? dial *#06# to find them.
Please indicate what your issue is ? for example: ?I don?t get notifications when my Exchange email arrives.?

Once these items have been verified, a Touchdown license will be sent to you at the email address you provide. (Supplies permitting.) Our goal is to respond within 24 hours. I?m sorry, but refunds are not available for owners who have already purchased Touchdown.

We?re setting up another Droid X community thread here, to find help with Touchdown from other Droid X users.

You do not need to upgrade to the 49.99 plan. Email, calendar, and contacts are supported. To get tasks plus those 3 things you will want to use the Touchdown mail program in the Market instead.

So if I'm coming from a BB, and had the 49.99 plan, are you saying I can drop to the 29.99 plan and still use the built-in "corporate sync"?

I just did a remote wipe on my Droid X from my Exchange 2010 server and it does indeed work.

THANK YOU so much... I submitted an email and got a license key within 24 hours... this is a WONDERFUL gesture by Motorola and is greatly appreciated.

Anyone who is not 100% happy with current Exchange integration on their DX, I strongly recommend getting these free licenses while the offer is still good.

How do I e-mail to a distribution list? Is that even possible? If not, is there a way I can set up a list on my phone that I can e-mail to? (I have to e-mail a group of 15 people on a semi-daily basis) Thanks.

Distribution Lists

I have a couple of users in my company using Droid Incredibles that sync with their Outlook email/Calendar/Contacts wirelessly. They are having an issue with Contacts...their distribution lists in Outlook do not sync over to the Droids.

Is this a known limitation? I do not have a droid so I am not that familiar with them.

no on the distribution lists....but you can group. for each contact in outlook, assign a category.... in your Droid X contacts, display groups and you should see those categories....then you can email it to the group as a whole. hope that helps.
