Issues transferring to SD card

Hi, recently I got a 32g SD card as my 16 was filling up quick. I tried transferring over like I normally do and suddenly lost all my pictures and videos and now I can only see half my gallery (luckily I backed up to Dropbox) the rest are blank square with a ..and now majority if the pics i take are not usable as it ends up being blank ... read some where that SD are no longer supported (maybe it referred to another device and ive confused it) i dont wanna have to use a pc to transfer.. suggestions? ?, Thank you

Welcome to Android Central! How did you transfer the photo files? By backing up the photos on your computer, then inserting the new card in the computer slot and copying the photos there? Or were you using the phone?

Also, check to make sure the card is not counterfeit. Counterfeiters take a smaller capacity card and program it to report higher capacity. It works fine until you exceed its actual capacity, after which data errors (and data loss) may occur). Use SD Insight to check the validity of the card.
