Issues with Google Now

So Google Now worked great the first day I had my phone...was able to ask questions and got a voice response as far as my calendar, maps, etc but now it's totally silent! It pulls up the right info on screen but no more voice :-( Huge pain to try and drive and read directions rather than have them out loud. I have checked all my settings and can't figure it out! Speech output is set to Always Speak so not sure where else to check. Any suggestions??

I thought I was experiencing a bug also, turns out I had the "Touch feedback & system volume" turned down. That's the volume control for the Google Now "voice"

weird how the volume is tied to the Touch feedback and system volume" setting. I don't like the clicking sound when selecting things but need it turned up all the way for google now. Wish it was associated with Media volume instead.
