Issues with MD4

Okay. I'm going to recap. Re-download the ROM. Install it again, once the installation is complete do a factory wipe out again?

FIRST:
Boot into Recovery.

SECOND:
Wipe cache & dalvik cache (don't reboot).
NEXT:
factory reset BEFORE flashing the rom.

THEN:
Flash the rom, Boot the device and see if your issues have cleared up.

I just got the MD4 build and the only current issue I am having is receiving some text messages twice. It doesn't happen with all texts but I would say about 80% I receive twice and about 3-4 mins apart.

Any ideas?

I get those problems every once in a while, but it was not from the MD4 update - fyi, I had double text problems mostly from Sprint iPhones, but also happens with other Android phones - I believe it has to do with my Airave and wifi - has happened to me since my Epic 4G both when it was not rooted and when it was rooted, and a friend of mine in a different state also had it on three different Android phones (Evo, Evo 3D, and Note2) - I just think it is Sprint's network gets a little confused from time to time.

I also read somewhere that AT&T has had that problem also. My .02 cents.

When you say flash, is that installing the ROM? Or flashing is for rooted phone user's? I went to recovery mode but I only seen one cache wipe. I didn't see davik cache. Do I still proceed?

Yes, flash is installing. It's been a long time since I used stock recovery. Might it be under advanced?
Look for it but if it's not 2 be found wipe cache, reset and flash the rom.

I've discovered a VERY odd issue.. I went over to my bud's house today, and while there, I couldn't pull data through 4G OR 3G.. I jumped on his wifi, everything was smooth, and I could still make phone calls. Afterwards, I went running around town and noticed that it never happened again.. Drove through his neighborhood, and I couldn't pull data again.. Any ideas?

Signal strength?
When I moved to my current house I had zip for signal. I couldn't get anything data... Sprint sent me an Airave and all has been well since.

The call quality was exceptional, I could hear the person on the other end fine, and I had 5-6 bars the entire time..

So you had plenty of bars while driving around the neighborhood ?

Wonder if Sprint was having an issue. How was your friends data (if he has Sprint)?

I had him open several apps while I was there, and his worked fine. He has a HTC Evo 4G, if that makes a difference. I had made the call while sitting in his house, and that went well, and while driving around the neighborhood, the signal stayed strong..

Well I'm stumped (not unusual), that's a new one for me.

And of course, because I couldn't pull data, I couldn't update the PRL, I thought that may have been an issue.. I'll just have to tell him I'm highjacking his wifi from now on :D

If you're not rooted, you shouldn't looking at post #2 at all. Yes, flashing is for rooted phones. The instructions in Post #1 are for non rooted users.

Data (3G and 4G) are not the same as voice. The signal strength meter shows you signal strength for voice. The data network could have been down completely for some reason, and you'll never see that in the signal strength meter. The Evo 4G is a WiMax phone, so it's possible (though it seems unlikely), that WiMax was up and working while 3G was down. If Sprint is working on the 4G / data upgrades in his neighborhood, that could explain a data outage.

And of course, the Sprint update map just displays the same thing it has for months now.. Oh well, guess I'll wait this one out..

I went ahead and redid everything. Re-Downloaded ROM, rebooted into recovery mode, cache cleared, factory system wipe out, installed new ROM than booted up. My issues still exist with navi crashing (During the loading screen. Switching from portrait mode to landscape. Back and forth. Does not crash while navi is running with a destination) and pictures being compressed. Hopefully you have any other ideas. If not, I give many thanks for your help and time.

Sorry Hulk, I can't think of anything else right now. But if, as others continue to upgrade, I run across something, I'll be sure to let you know.

Wow, the Gallery sure has changed. I need to find the "On Device" button that I used before it is pulling in every picture from Picasa. That is no longer there, it lists accounts that it ties to so I have to go into there and uncheck synch photos. The way the Gallery can be viewed is awesome.

He would have still been moved onto 1x for data. I suspect another issue. Should call it into care and get a ticket opened
