You want the zipped version. Leave it zipped and put on the root of the sd card: /sdcard (not in any folder, just in the same directory as all the folders).
Go to the recovery menu and select the "install zip from sd card", then "select zip from sd card". Select the COT zip.
When done installing, go back to recovery main menu.
Select the "advanced" option.
Select the "reboot recovery" option.
It should now boot into the COT recovery. Find the "fix recovery boot loop" option.
Flash a ROM and Gapps that you have put on the sd card (MiRaGe is the most stable, also the best period). Use the 20110828 Gapps.

if it still won't boot into ROM then go to the stickys at top of forum. KDZ unbrick guide. Pay super close attention to detail. If unsure of how something is worded, ask.

Re: MY LG OPTIMUS V Will not boot out of ClockworkMod

Guys. My LG Optimus V is stuck in ClockworkMod Recovery and will not reboot back to the homescreen. It just keeps rebooting back to the "reboot system now' menu.
I tried the remedy that Grace used per your suggestion. And when I go to the menu where you said to select "gapps and install", its not in the list.

I have not flashed any new ROM, its a LG Optimus V running stock Android Froyo 2.2. No third party ROMS at all. I initially did a 'factory reset' to get rid of some third party apps taht may have been malware, but now not able to get back........My goal is to just be able to boot back to my homescreen.
BTW, if this helps; when I check the "report error" under the 'Advanced adn debugging menu'; it says "/tmp/recovery.log was copied to /sdcard/clockworkmod/recovery.log. Please open ROM Manager to report issue.": If that makes any sense.

All help appreciated.

Custom recovery? Or stock? If it's a custom recovery you need to find the flashable zip of xionia or COT recovery install and use the fix boot loop option
