While not as slippery as the Nexus 6P, I just spent today in terror as my 3 XL came yesterday and Amazon was a day late with my case which came today. I have dry skin and it's just not safe without a case. Got a Ringke and it's nice.

I have yet to meet someone who changes phones like I do. I WANT to meet someone that does, then I won't feel so bad. I reached an all time low in my addiction this time. Is there a support group?

But, going through so many phones also means I am going to sell them so I need to protect them. I've learned two things:

• Use a screen protector no matter how frustraingly imperfect they are on rounded screen edges
• There may be nothing wrong with the unknown brand cases that are cheaper if they have decent reviews

One caveat - I use thin cases. I don't know how well no-name tough cases hold up.

This has led to spending less on cases and immaculate phones upon sale.

I was with my MNML case. I kept holding it up and carefully staring down the edge. It was lifted ever so slightly. The current case I'm using on my new Pixel 3 has a more prounounced lip but it's not much.

To be honest, I don't worry a whole lot. It does cross my mind once in a while. I do know that my last two phones showed no scratches on the lens and I used slim cases. When I examined my 2XL in preparation for sale - it was perfect. No scarches anywhere including the camera and I was using a MNML case.

You're probably aware but the back is deceiving when it comes to scratches. Sometimes what appears as scratches is actually material from whatever rubbed up against it and can be buffed out.

Do you have to worry about paint chipping off the phone back when in a case anymore? I've gotten so OCD that I would put a skin on the back and then put in a thin case. it's crazy but did help ensure no chips to anodized aluminum or metal backs. Maybe not necessary with glass backs.
