It is obvious that the HTC One X is a better phone than the S3

Re: It is obvious that the HTC One X is a better phone than the S

Moreover, the Samsung Galaxy S III seemingly has?a new antireflective coating or layer applied, as it has shown excellent result in sunlight visibility tests, despite not being brighter than the Galaxy S II, for example, with about 330 nits brightness.

From phonearena

Samsung Galaxy S III specs review page2

This has the most comprehensive coverage of the screen I have seen.

Re: It is obvious that the HTC One X is a better phone than the S

Since the screen is strictly gonna be preference...how can one screen beat another? On paper? Specs?

I think my RAZR screen is better than my Rezound screen....overall. Specs be damned. I listen to my eyes...not a spec sheet.

And as for one phone beating another...this will be a never ending debate. My wants n needs have me picking my RAZR over the G Nex and Rezound. Based on specs....it shouldnt. I also want to get a Bionic. Based on specs...I shouldnt.

Might want to get your eyes checked.

Both screens are excellent. The X may have an edge, but you can't tell the difference.

"Still, both densities are high enough that you won't notice in regular usage. You can see slight jaggines on finer detail displayed on the S III screen but you have to look from extremely close range and quite carefully at that."

"Super AMOLED has very deep blacks, vibrant colors and excellent viewing angles. There's some color shift when you reach the extremes, but the icons and text remain almost perfectly clear. Samsung's software also allows you to adjust the saturation - you get to choose from four levels of saturation raging from super punchy to slightly toned down.

The One X's IPS LCD2 screen is about 66% brighter than the opposition. It has excellent color rendering and viewing angles. The blacks aren't quite as deep as what the AMOLED has to offer, but the contrast ratio is high enough to make this almost a non-issue."

"the HTC One X is very good for an LCD and the excellent brightness contributes to that, but the non-reflectivity of the AMOLED screen gives the Samsung Galaxy S III the edge. In fact, the Galaxy S III emerges from our tests as the best outdoor performer we have seen to date."

"Both Samsung and HTC have turned to Corning to keep their lustrous screens safe. But the Galaxy S III uses second-gen Gorilla Glass while the One X sticks with the original. According to Corning, Glass 2 offers the same level of protection, though it's slimmer"

Sorry, but the X screen is simply better. More accurate colors, higher true resolution, and none of the pentile nonsense. All of the hands-ons have said the screen on the S3 is good, but the one on the One X is in a whole other class.

Re: It is obvious that the HTC One X is a better phone than the S

The GSMArena review is not totally accurate - e.g. HTC One X also uses Corning Gorilla Glass 2 unlike what they claim. They do seem to have a bias in favor the GS3.

Also, the GS3 screen is NOT the same as the Nexus. It is significantly brighter, esp at 50%, which makes a huge difference.

Re: It is obvious that the HTC One X is a better phone than the S

I have seen the screen since it is EXACTLY THE SAME as the one on my galaxy nexus, just with worse pixel density.

Yes, we should believe you over professional reviews and technical data supplied by the manufactures which proves it's a different screen.

It's actually NOT Gorilla Glass 2.

There are no professional reviews yet. Nobody has a device. Going based on a hands on at the release party, and anything released by Samsung PR.

Maybe you wanna try being less of a fanboy and understand preference is just that...preference.

Rezound has a sharper screen.....at closer than my normal viewing distance. At ...my...normal viewing distance.....its a wash.
Rezound has a brighter and whiter screen. Thats doesnt really matter to me as I cant tell unless holding both phones side by side. It doesnt effect web page viewing and arent we always turning down the brightness to save battery life?

After those things.....I prefer the colors and blacks better on my RAZR. Outdoor viewing and viewing angles on my RAZR. Watching Netflix on both phones and to me the more accurate colors on the Rezound dont make up for the the deeper blacks and the more vibrant colors on the RAZR. I just prefer the colors and blacks on the RAZR more.

The Rezound screen looks like the brightness and/or contrast is cranked up too high. It really does looked washed out next to a RAZR when watching Netflix.

I have 2 phones...RAZR and Rezound. Had a G Nex. Trust me when I say your normal viewing distance will make the difference whether you notice Pentile and screen res or not. Everybody isnt the same.

My eyes dont need to be checked, they like what they like. Your head needs to be checked. Because fanboyism is a disease. Seriously.

I know three people who were in London, and had the One X and SGSIII side by side.

All three say the screen on the One X is much better, including the self-admitted Samsung fan who will be buying the SGIII anyway.

Jerry...If so thats great. Like I said before...cant wait to see a One X in person. To see for myself.

Like with any screen....my eyes will tell me what I like, what I want. Not specs, reviews or word of mouth. Some folks need to understand that.

So many ppl raved/rave about the Rezound screen....and to me it isnt all that good....overall. Doesnt matter what the specs are. Great thing about having a family plan is one can do extended side by side comparisons with phones.

Re: It is obvious that the HTC One X is a better phone than the S

HTC One X vs Samsung Galaxy S3:
Better display - Check (Pentile sucks compared to whatever magic HTC cooked up on the One X screen)
Build quality - Check (polycarbonate beats plastic any day of the week)
User Interface - Check (Sense > Touchwiz)
Processor - TBD (the dual core S4 is no slouch)
Battery - TBD (early reviews give high marks to the One X)

I thought samsung used the same material as the one x it was just coated differently? Not to mention this is preference especially with the interface with many taking touchwiz over sense.

Re: It is obvious that the HTC One X is a better phone than the S

Yeah no. I'll take an f/2.0 lens and separate imaging processor over the S3's f/2.6 any day of the week.

X wins in low light situations. The S3 wins in everything else, get over it.

They are both GREAT PHONES!!!!! I don't know how many times I have to say this to you before you understand. You like the X and thinks it's better, good for you. I think the S3 is better, good for me. Drop it already.

Ok, you did see where I said the X has the edge, right?

Those comments were from the article, not me. Personally, I have seen the X and the screen is great. I haven't seen the S3 screen yet. When I do, it may suck or it may be a great screen. I won't know until it shows up.

No one is denying this, but a better screen does not a better phone make. Overall, the S3 is the superior phone.

Yes, people were denying this. That's why I said what I said.

You saying "the S3 is the superior phone" is just as stupid as the OP was. Both eschew Android standards about security and file systems, both have hardware elements that will mean forever when waiting for a version update, and both are manufactured by companies with long-standing track records of abusing open-source licensing and other less-than-ethical behavior. They were manufactured to lure people who don't know any better into parting with their money.

I can play elitist too. See how stupid it sounds?

Why was my comment stupid? I have an opinion don't I? Just because it's different than yours doesn't make it stupid. In actual fact, you attacking me and my opinion is more stupid than me making a statement of opinion.

Re: It is obvious that the HTC One X is a better phone than the S

Anyone that says the S3 is superior is stupid. Let's get it first.

I'll play along. what the heck.

Opinion:
I think the S3 would be a better phone for my needs.

Not opinion:
Overall, the S3 is the superior phone.

Your turn.

I agree, the software features are what makes the phone, who cares if I can put the phone right to my face and see some jagged edges. Touchwiz looks bad (opinion) but that's what 3rd party launchers and custom roms are for
