While my pixel XL was awesome. It tended to get really warm on heavy use and really hot with lots of camera use. The 2 XL never even gets room temp. Is the 835 that much more efficient or is there something else going on?

It's probably a combination of the 835 and the separate Visual Core. My understanding is that the Visual Core offloads the CPU considerably when using the camera.

Mine still gets pretty warm when using it for nav, but that might be partly due to its constant exposure to sunlight on the dashboard in this situation.

I haven't checked it with nav. But that's usually the case. Gps burns batteries for some reason. But regular usage doesn't even warm it up.

Yeah, it (P2XL) seems to run unusually cool including "fast charging" With one exception...When I run the Fios App and watch like Around the Horn or something else...That gets it cooking severely enough that I need to close it after the show is over. It burns even when sleeping with that App.

Wow. That's an odd bug. I would report it to the dev.

My guess is it's the 835. That chip is a beast! Depends on which version he's using as I don't think the visual core is active in 8.0, correct?

Just standard 2 XL. Guessing it will be even better once the chip is fully operational.

I have not had the time for Ingress or Pokémon Go yet. On my Nexus 6, those 2 games made the phone so warm and shut down

Wow. I'd love to know the outcome. I've played elder scrolls legends with no heat issues.

hasn't gotten warm on me yet.. I've only charged it once yesterday, and the charger got pretty warm, but not the phone. Odd.

I'm sure navigation and intensive games would make it hot.

I have a Galaxy S8+, also with a Snapdragon 835, and only time I've had it get warm (I've had it since day 1 of it being out) is while doing VR. Yes, warm, never hot though (heard that the S7 get to the point that you have to stop and let it cool).

The SD835 is just that effecient, and the SD845 is just around the corner.

Found a way to warm it up. Play some HDR videos! 50% battery down in less than an hour! And a toasty phone!!
