I don’t understand Apple sometimes. When the Wii came out, people were being idiots and breaking their TV screens. So what did Nintendo do? Send everyone a free wristband for every controller you had.
When that only solved some of the problem, what’d they do? Give everyone a case for their controller to allow for a better grip on the device.
Why can’t Apple just do the same thing? Are they really that certain they are right? Just give everyone one of those Livestrong look-a-like bumpers for free and call it a day. Everyone will be thrilled and shut their mouths. For the time being, at least.

Jobs: "And now I'd like to introduce the iPhone 4 signal enhancement kit. Once again we've outpaced the competition to market with this as well as demonstrated our innovative prowess." Big applause.

Jobs: "And I bet you're wondering what this kit contains? Well here's a picture."

Audience: "OOOOOOHHHHHH." Long applause.

Jobs: "Here we have the iTape and iScissors that make up the kit. I bet they'll try to copy
us but you know we are the orginal and best." Long applause.

Jobs: "Be sure to visit your local Apple store asap to grab one up. The're only $50.00."
LOL! Now that's funny!

Because Apple is arrogant.

And I'm a Mac fanboy ;)

apple first has to admit there is a problem with the device first before you can expect them to remedy it. until they stop playing the denial game, there will never be a solution

Don't expect them to fix it as they have removed all consumer reports related threads from the apple forum.

They removed them because those forums are for people that actually need help and not for posting stuff like that.

And in case you hadn't heard, Apple has a press conference friday to address the issue.

Is that press conference going to fix the massive hardware issue that they unleashed?

No one knows that its a hardware issue for sure, so that line that you're throwing about needs to stop. The only people on this planet that actually know whats going on with the iPhone 4 are apple, and they'll tell the world what they know Friday. Until then, stop trying to claim as fact that its a hardware issue.

Ah, there is droid800, on the scene to once again blindly defend apple from us mean old android people. Fact is, you know just as little as what apple will have to say at their press conference as we do. For all you know, apple could be callous enough to use this press conference to reaffirm their position that it isn't a hardware problem, despite evidence to the contrary.

You're kidding right?

So all the people who lose signal when placing their hand over a spot on the phone are wrong?

Consumer reports are wrong?

Even apple admitted that if you put your hand in that spot you'll drop signal.

And that line i am "throwing about" is actually accurate, and everyone else here will back me up.

So before you spew out anymore blind ignorance, please think THEN act.

Right back at you. Fact of the matter is that you're not an engineer, you didn't write the code that controls the iphone's antennas, and you don't work in the company. Neither do any of the websites out there, and neither does consumer reports. At this point, the signal drop is a SYMPTOM of the problem. NO ONE, not you, not me, NOBODY outside of Apple knows for sure what the root cause of the issue is.

So in other words, stop with the BS that you know for a fact that its a hardware issue because you don't know anything.

What evidence? Have you torn apart the code that controls this antenna to find that it had no errors and that it could only be the hardware? Have you run diagnostics to prove conclusively that it could only be hardware related? If not, then you, like Generic Message need to back off.

No. Unlike you, I'm not willing to jump to conclusions about the problem without hearing apple's opinion on the matter first. Like I said, nobody outside of 1 Infinite Loop knows the cause of the problem, so you saying, as if its somehow a fact, that its a hardware issue, is complete B.S.. If its a hardware issue, I'll be the first to criticize Apple. Until they come forward with the cause, however, I'm not going to go down the road you've taken because its a foolish and childish thing to do.

droid, i dont know if you took a wrong turn on the interwebs somewhere, but you are on an android forum; a place where 90% of us really dont like apple. apple takes potshots at android all of the time (android market only has porn, iphone4 does "true" multitasking, etc), so naturally, we are going to relish it when their big new device has an inexcusable flaw that is easy to poke fun at. of course none of us are apple engineers. but regardless of why the problem is happening, nothing you say is going to change anyone's opinion here, just as nothing we say would change your opinion of android. you had an android phone, didnt like it, went back to the iphone. thats cool; its the phone that fits you the best. i just dont get how you are seemingly getting incredibly irritated and feel the need to have apple's back so vehemently just because we are taking digs at apple. over on tipb, there are lots of forums where apple is awesome, and lots of people are going praise their greatness. its not going to happen here. we will continue to skewer them. because its funny

and as far as waiting for apple to say why the problem is happening, what makes you think they will ever tell us why? it is in their best interest to fabricate whatever story they can come up with. if they ever do disclose the real reason for the error, then thats great, as we will all know why their phone has trouble performing its most basic function. but until then, i will jump to whatever conclusion i please

iPhone users need Stevey Boy to tell them what to do, they cant figure out themselves (there should be app for that ) but apple didnt make one yet. These iphone fanboys are mindless people who hang on every word Stevey Boy says and without him they are lost. If he says there is no problem with phone and all you need is to learn how to hold it, these guys will eat it up and say right on man, without a second thought. For some unkown reason iphone fan boys are mindless people, wonder why.

If you want to get full bars look at my avatar and that how Stevey boy holds his phone.

I never purchase based on CR. I do the opposite....after all, they always recommend toyotas LOL

Totally offtopic, but did it ever occur to you that all of that was media hype? car and driver did multiple tests, couldn't reproduce the reports and all of the incidents occurred in the US, mostly after the news started carrying news of it?

I in fact do know some people in Cupertino and I've heard the issue some is being worked on in the software and no not the update that was released yesterday. This was about a week ago and last night the whole NYT article was posted saying the same thing I heard.

I guess we will find out in a few hours during Apple's press event.
