It's here

Great, so far. I'm at work, so I'm really doing work related stuff, installing our messaging app, etc. I didn't talk to the Samsung rep, for a rep he was pretty quiet. He said hi, that was it. I think he was into the one girl working there though, so he was preoccupied.

Downloading Google Maps now, though I'm in a 40 story steel / concrete building, so I probably won't be able to help out much with the GPS. I barely get a cell signal in here.

Google Maps/Nave, etc.. installed, runs fine. GPS is wacked, but again that's because I'm in a skyscraper in the middle of downtown Chicago. I think our fear about being locked out of Google Maps was unfounded.

Great news. Here's the million dollar question: if you click on an address in a browser window or a contact entry, does the phone prompt you to use Google Maps or does it still prompt you to choose between Bing or VZ Nav? If it does prompt you if you want to use Google Maps, is there a checkbox to set it as the default? Thanks!!

Not sure, as I've never used it before, but I'll explain.

I search for my office via Google in the browser. I see teh address/phone number, etc.. There's an option for my to click the phone number and call, next to that is "Map", next to that is "More". More has "Get Directions" / "Report a problem". I click on Get Directions, and I definitely get taken to Google Nav. If I click on Map, it looks like Google Maps (it supports Multi-touch), but I'm not sure if that's a Android/Browser Google Maps thing.. So I think it's working, but if you can give me a firm example to replicate I can tell you for sure.

Bingo! Yep, the next step from there would be to click the Go button and you should then be given the option to "Show on Map" or "Navigate".

Yep! I did, that's what happens, though again I run into my indoor / GPS issue, but it launches the "Navigation" application, which is the app with the blue arrow pointing upwards, kinda like a compass arrow.

No problem. I dragged the bing widget to the garbage.. Haven't been able to figure out how to replace it with Google (I think that's the big problem everyone was discussing) but other than that I haven't seen a thing regarding Bing,VZW navigator, etc.. Doesn't even seem like it's there (even though I do see it in the app drawer).

Now, to hide all of the bloatware.. Thanks LauncherPro!

Haha that's awesome. Sounds like there was a bunch of unwarranted panic (to an extent). I hate to be a pain, but would you mind doing the same test clicking an address in a contact?

Sure.. It pops up with "Complete Action Using"

1- Bing
2- Maps
3 - VZNavigator

It allows me to choose my default.

Actually...I haven't downloaded Google Navigation yet...so I just see VZW and BING...his is showing maps but are we sure that's maps w voice navigation? Give me a few minutes...I get lousy service in my building.

Wait...is Google Navigation a separate download? If so it is not showing up in the Market.

Google MAPS is there...but I thought they were separate?

My bad...appears to be one and the same...

Carry on with your celebration....
