So I got up the cojones to flash Aospcmod to my OV. It went fine, but I never backed anything up like contacts and whatnot. But now I see that 2.3.4 on asocpcmod was released. I'm a little sad because I want to upgrade to that.

If someone would be so kind as to write me up a little guide on backing up my contacts + Facebook contacts, apps, etc and reflash to the newer aospc and restore all my backups like nothing every happened...

I'd be amazed.

your contacts are stored in the cloud. all you have to do is sign in to your email when you flash the new ROM and they will be restored.

isnt the cloud great?

also, i heard that the 2.3.4 release is a little more buggy than the latest 2.3.3 release, im running aospcmod too. im just going to stay with the 2.3.3 release until i hear the new ones completely stable.

Well it didnt do that this past time :o, for contacts.

and I suppose, I can wait the bugfixes out.

Facebook contacts should be saved on facebook not your phone. Google contacts will be saved within google cloud service. Everything else I suggest something like Titanium Backup or My Backup Pro. You really cant go wrong with either and shouldnt loose things like text, contacts and whatnot.

I highly reccomend a third party app like gosms or handcent for texting as both of those have the option to save your texts independent of the rest of your stuff.

As for a guide, use TB or another backup app and do a backup of your stuff. Then once you get into recovery do a backup from backup and restore. That way you have a restore point if something goes sour. Flash your rom of choice and then once you reboot your phone restore from TB or backup app.

I would say to defiantly wait til Asop irons out all the bugs before you flash unless of course you want to help him by testing and reporting anything that comes up. I flashed and for the most part it was good some minor annoyances like the alarm clock not being able to set a wake up time.
