it's official at&t u suck

I live in SouthWest Louisiana and have had AT&T for about 3 years now. Before that we were with Sprint. We switched merely because of a greater choice of phones at AT&T than Sprint had (at that time)

First two years with AT&T were great, this past year though it has really gotten much much worse.

4 members on our plan, all of us have different phones. We all experience the same problems so I know it isn't phone specific problems. Cell phone reception is great, but connectivity is pretty bad. I get multiple dropped calls on a weekly basis. Same goes for the wife. Kids not so much, but they don't really talk alot either; mostly texting.

Data coverage is a joke. There are two main interstates that run through my state. I-10 and I-49.
I travel the state on a daily basis as a probation/parole officer. I witness huge chunks of MAJOR INTERSTATE with NO DATA COVERAGE. IMO, that is unacceptable.
For about 90 miles in between Lake Charles and Alexandria on Hwy 165, there is NO 3G. In the town of DeRidder and Fort Polk which has 10's of 1000's of residents....no data coverage.
My mothers house who lives just outside of Baton Rouge, no data coverage and BARELY any reception.
Inside my wife and I's office building which is located in a town of 80 thousand+ residents, we have to go outside to accept a call clearly. Forget about data. Thank God for WiFi.

We have spoke many times with AT&T and regularly call and report problems so that they have it on record for our account. AT&T reps tell us that a tower has been down since FEB (which I find hard to believe). They have also told us that they are doing upgrades to handle the load of all the iPhone users. We shall see on that....

They have pretty generous on giving us free upgrades and discounts/credits on our monthly bill, which has kept us hanging around. Not sure how much longer though we will keep persevering.

Att has good conection in my areas but the data plans make the phones basically useless and everything else is expensive so they are like 30 bucks more wiyhout unlimited
Captivate will hopefully be my last att phone
Just one more year till then

Well I think my wife realizes what I am saying and maybe when this contract is up I can finally get Verizon for the 3 phones. I have no problem with their customer service. They have always been helpful with problems. Though they could not solve some of them.
Connection and coverage is the problem and when I keep seeing Verizon and now even Sprint work where ATT doesn't that is a major concern.

I don't know if you have checked this, but make sure data roaming is ON. This is disabled from the factory, but it will also prevent your phone from hitting a partner tower.

This was the case for us around rural Wisconsin. There are no additional charges for using partner towers, but the phone doesn't distinguish between them and international towers.

Out here (in Arkansas, home of Wal-Mart) AT&T is really the only game in town. Verizon bought their way in out here, but they haven't gotten the kinks worked out it seems.

So, it is ATT or nothing.

My wife had Sprint, but it was so spotty and poor quality that we gave up on it. She joined my family plan and we've been ATT ever since.

In fact, we were Cingular before they were acquired by ATT. I had zero issues, zero dropped calls with Cingular. With ATT the problems only increased, but it is still better than the next closest alternative.

Att has good customer service, good speed when connected but will sometimes reject my captivate from the network which is a pain, and sometimes will randomly lose signal where it has been before and they have the worst coverage in low coverage (always first to lose service in a building
