Its Official. The S21 Was A MAJOR Bust! The ship is sinking!

Fair enough. But apparently people have been speaking with their wallets since 2017 (when Samsung and LG decline began), before those features were removed. While Apple never takes a hit...ever. People are sick of Android and their fragmented nonsense, slow updates and bloatware.

You can see it with the severely decreased traffic here and other Android sites.

You ain't kidding, the Android/Samsung forums are stone dead. :'(

A new Note wasn't going to be much cheaper, and Samsung doesn't need to sell 50 million Z folds to make a profit.

Exactly. The Note never sold anywhere near the S line nor, did they intend to. It's a niche phone to showcase the latest and greatest Samsung could do. The Fold will be the same but it won't be the S series replacement to get back to S4 type sales numbers... At least not at these prices.

The S-series is a direct competitor to the iPhone series and they can't sell the numbers the iPhones do... Even at deep discount and trade-in. That's all I'm saying.

There hasn't been Samsung S flagship in the top 10 best selling phones since the S7.

Samsung's bread and butter is their mid and lower range phones and the Note series ( soon to be the ZFold) because they can charge insane prices for less output. They even tried to bring a Note like experience to the S series, but I think it just confused people.

I wonder if they with move away from that in 2022?

Wow! That sounds a little ominous.

Samsung going th way of LG??

I mean the Chinese are eating away at their bread and butter mid and low range. They can't compete in the flagship market.

Sounds crazy but you never know. They need to reorganize., I feel they sell too many types of phones. Dunno. We will see.

If it can happen to LG, it can happen to anyone... except Apple.

I envision a future where both Samsung and Sony decide it's too much of a headache/loss to remain the the smartphone market and pull out.

I'll say it again, Android is on the way out. Pretty soon your choice will be an iPhone or an iPhone. Mark my words.

I could see where the Android/iOS duopoly would become Pixel/iPhone just because Google needs a device to exist for it’s ecosystem just like Apple needs a device to exist for it’s ecosystem.

I’d also expect to see licensed Android device from Microsoft to complement Windows new services offerings. Still a long ways from seeing Galaxy disappear since it brings prestige and recognition to all the other companies products. Even now, LG is fighting a misperception that it’s not economically healthy due to exiting the mobile space.

It's no surprise that by making the phone cheaper by removing the most important features which make the phone unique (micro SD and MST Samsung Pay) are causing a major sales decline. Samsung is going to follow up this collosal mistake by not making the Note. The ship is seriously sinking for Samsung.

There's a lot of us loyal Samsung buyers for many years that boycotted 2021 because they removed these features and it shows in the sales data. The S21 was a downgrade!!!

Screw you Samsung! You can take it where the sun doesn't shine! I hate you for what you did to the S21 and Note line.

If there is a silver lining, Samsung will recognize this and bring back the micro SD. They are playing the same broken record from the S4 & S5 so far. They brought back micro SD in the S7. I do believe it will be back. Unfortunately I don't think MST is coming back.

This is what is called confirmation bias.

Come on dude. There is like 1000 people who care about MST and SD slots and that's being generous.

They need to be taken down a notch or 3.....a good market correction would benefit everyone, even the executives in Samsungs Ivory Tower who have seemed to lose sight of what's happening in the real world lol.

I have a funny feeling LG going stay in phone business.

Per the memo, Samsung was the first to offer 5G in 2019. In 2019 it was optional. Then they forced 5G on us in 2020 byandating the extra $200. Naturally when the price goes up $200 sales declined. Then in 2021 Samsung tried to offset higher costs by taking features and costs out. Costs went down but sales crashed.

Qualcomm is to blame but being the biggest purchaser of Snapdragon Chips, Samsung had options and leverage. They shot themselves in the foot.

Samsung cut features and costs out of their top tier phone but it backfired.

Sad that a $200 5G chip was forced on us. I have turned my 5G off since I bought my Note 20 Ultra. Everytime I turn it on, it's a disappointment and I turn it back off. 5G was a gimmick that was not ready for primetime. I really don't believe it's even needed. Super fast 4G LTE is fine and 5G should have stayed an option until the costs came down. It's unfortunate but it's made phones less affordable and it came at the expense of other useful features being removed. Too bad bit I think Samsung will turn it around.

No thanks. I'll hold onto my Note 20 Ultra until there is a more appealing Note with micro SD that comes out.

Well, I need SD card slot. Easier to carry on my files and photos, and them to send it to my notebook. I need SPen. I used to make lots of quick memos with it in my Note 10+. But... It's battery is failing. Samsung failed to release any new model that suits my needs. I would like to have a foldable, but at this price... Well, some misinformed guy wrote above about people weren't changing their Samsungs for iPhones. Well... I did it. And don't regret. Maybe in 2023, when I'll be looking for a new phone again, maybe I'll consider Samsung again, since Chinese brands simply aren't an option for me.

"I need a micro SD card and an S-Pen, so I switched to the iPhone!" makes so much sense lol.

But if Apple had done it before Samsung, you'd call it Revolutionary right?🙄

My money, my sense ;)

Yes if a company fails to offer me something that suits my need, I tend to change brands even if the new one doesn’t suits me as well. If I have to buy a new phone without SD card and without SPen, so, for me, iPhone is the “less bad” option.

My point is: somebody said above high end customers who buys flagship phones regularly won’t abandon Samsung ship for the iPhone one because of Samsung’s last bad decisions. Well, I did it, and so did my wife, who sold her S20 for an iPhone too. So, Samsung lost, at least, two high end regular customers lately. Not a big deal, though, as we don’t have any loyalty to any brand and will be ready to come back as soon Samsung release a phone that suits us in a minimally affordable price.
