I've got the HTC One Mini. You've got questions. Get your answers here!

I know this is not the place for this question, but I just feel the urge to rant now.

Why does HTC think that 16Gb is enough for everyone? I mean, some people could prefer to pay $100-$200 one time for 64gb of mem, instead of $50-$100 everymonth to be able to stream their music and videos from the network... that is, WHEN you have network access... what happens when I'm on a plane?

I REALLY like the HTC One mini, but this 16Gb with no mSD stuff just makes it impossible for me to buy it.

I'm guessing the 16gb models of their phones would be the highest sellers over the 32gb/64gb models.

Alex: How would you rate the HTC One Mini against the Galaxy S4 Mini? Which do you prefer?

Is there any feature (software or hardware) that's on the Mini that isn't on the One?

I cannot tell from the pictures I have seen, but is that a bumper case on it?

I don't think so, I'm pretty sure that's just how they built it. It has this plastic bezel all the way around it to protect it. Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong

One Mini. Mainly because of the software/hardware design. Samsung has expandable storage, a slightly faster CPU and a better camera going for it though.

Nope, the external trim is plastic now (only the back is metal)

Not that I can see.

You're 100% right.

I was waiting for the mini for a few month, was going to buy it as soon as it becomes available, but the wait got the best of me and I ended up buying the original One.
By the specs and a short review, I think I made the wise decision.

And what about the screen, ohhh the screen! Stupid Samsung for the screen, stupid HTC for the 16Gb. I guess I'm stuck with Xperia SP...

The One Mini doesn't have an infrared blaster for the power button that the One has. So you won't be able to control your tv with the One Mini.

As trivial as it sounds, that thing is damn useful. Don't have to look for/use my TV remote ever now.

The original One is the better phone, for sure.

He was asking about stuff that the Mini has that the One doesn't. There are a few things that the One has that are missing on the Mini -- NFC, IR and OIS for instance.

Sorry my mistake. Misread the question.

How does the Mini perform in sunlight and in terms of viewing angles? The One was touted as being quite good in this regard. Also, how is the call quality in terms of clarity and volume? Again, it was reported as being excellent in the One, so how do they compare? thank you!

I know you only just got the phone and I'm being a bit impatient but when can we expect a review.... :)
Probably Friday.

Daylight visibility -- good, comparable with the One. Whites are a little warmer/yellower on the Mini compared to the One, which has cooler colors. Viewing angles are every bit as good as the One. Can't comment on call quality yet.

How is the game performance? Can you play games like Real Racing 3, Beach buggy without lag? I know you just got the device so you probably can't tell yet...

Like many people I want a reasonable size phone with a decent spec. I am encouraged that the dual core and 1gb RAM are adequate out of the box, but the real test of whether it will lag is once you have loaded up shed loads of apps, and several home screens worth of widgets. I know it is a bit of a notional question, but how do you think it would perform with, say 50 apps and two home screens full of widgets - do you think I would be regretting not getting something with 2gb RAM and a faster processor? Which do you think is most important for performance in the previous scenario - RAM or processor speed / architecture / number of cores?

Hello, I have few questions, I never had android and this will be my first, after looking at htc one I decided to try it and got bored of iPhone, but don't want the big screen from htc one

> Due to plastic on the sides does it look cheap or ugly?
> 16GB is not enough on my iPhone currently, what do you think is it even worth it to not have option of more memory? not using android anytime not sure how much memory I might need for decent use
> do you think they might come up with same mini with more memory or ram later?
> for a guy like me who doesn't want big screen do you still recommend one against mini?
> is IR blaster that important and useful, what about NFC?
> do you think I should wait a little longer for any other phones before htc mini?
> do you think its faster than iPhone 5?
> does it get heated up fast?

Thanks a lot for taking your time to answer my questions, really appreciate your help.

So far I'm on 96% with 1 hour, 31 minutes on battery. That's indoors, on Wifi.

And that probably doesn't tell you anything about real-world use :)

I will be very interested to learn how it does perform with its 1800mah battery.

This phone is now very much on my radar as I'm getting the feeling that the Moto X may not be for me.

How do you think this compares to the newly announce motorola ultra mini device?
I haven't used the Droid Mini, but on paper that device has higher specs than the One Mini.

Nope. Though it's not as nice-looking as the full size HTC One.
> 16GB is not enough on my iPhone currently, what do you think is it even worth it to not have option of more memory? not using android anytime not sure how much memory I might need for decent use
There are plenty of phones available with 32GB+ of storage. Unfortunately the One Mini isn't one of them.
> do you think they might come up with same mini with more memory or ram later?
Unlikely.
> for a guy like me who doesn't want big screen do you still recommend one against mini?
Depends what else you want, and how important screen size is.
> is IR blaster that important and useful, what about NFC?
For me personally, neither is particularly important.
> do you think I should wait a little longer for any other phones before htc mini?
There's always something better on the horizon. Take a look at what's out there and try to see what's the best fit for you.
> do you think its faster than iPhone 5?
I haven't used the 5 for long enough to say for sure, but the One Mini is by no means slow.
> does it get heated up fast?
No more than any other phone. But the back is aluminum, which is a better conductor of heat than plastic.
