I would love to know if somebody has the 2014 Moto X on Verizon, if you can do voice and data without being on the VoLTE new feature, can we do voice and data together like the 2013 Moto X?

I believe you can't on the new x until the 1.0 advanced called is avail. But then again is it that big of a deal.....half the time you'll be connected to a WiFi network. I can't imagine it'll be too long before advanced called is avail anyway. Although maybe I misunderstood it.

with this advanced calling there is no fall back to the voice if you get off LTE so the call drops off. thats where my original question comes from.
edit: went to verizon store, tested it, no voice and data at the same time. stupid.

I worry whenever I read that statement. It's a great testament to Apple that they have many hoodwinked to keep repeating the statement in bold above. For work, I have an iPhone 4S, and sorry dude, it does NOT just work. When iOS 7 was released and I installed it, the phone gave so much trouble I actually researched figuring out how to revert back to iOS 6. I have always had iPhones for work. It was crazy the problems I was having, I have NEVER seen an iPhone freeze and then die in the past. Sometimes, I can't end a phone call. Currently it is on iOS7 version 7.1.2 and I have been ignoring the reminder to upgrade to iOS8 after about four upgrades on iOS7.
* So if it just "works" why has iOS 7 required so many updates? After all, it just works hence it should have been perfect from day 1
* Why the Map fiasco with iOS 6?
* The Antenna issues with iPhone 4?
* Now we see the iPhone 6 bending, was it designed to bend like that?
The fact is Apple phones NOW like everyone else comes to market before all bugs are fixed, so their devices no longer "just work". And for a while now, they never really have. Sad, but true.
Now back to discussing the absolutely beautiful Moto X... Which the bending iPhone 6 can't touch...
Actually, I think they only can really check that on a phone using cdma bands. If you were only trying to use LTE, it might work.
The 2013 LTE nexus 7 is LTE only (no CDMA), and Verizon took about 6 months or longer before they were able to reprogram their system to be able to authorize a new number using only LTE. But during those 6 months, if your put a Verizon sim (that was already activated) into a nexus 7, it worked just fine using LTE.
Kind of make me think that if you put a Verizon Sim into an att moto x, the lte would probably work, but you couldn't make phone calls, because right now the phone calls are using CDMA.
That will all change in a couple months when VoLTE is rolled out on the vzw moto x. If you got that update installed onto an ATT moto x, I'm thinking you might be able make phone calls too. You'd probably have you start with a SIM that was already authorized on vzw though.

I don't have a 5S but my wife had both a 5 and a 5S and I've used both of them to make calls many times. Call quality in my opinion is way better. People on the other end when I'm using the X have said they don't hear anything but me. Volume wise the X is considerably louder. One of the loudest phones when using speakerphone I've ever owned in fact.
Wow... Things has changed since I left iOS. I guess the days of ios fluidity is history. To be fair about the positive comment to iphones, I was trying to be nice and give both factions it's ups. Although, I will most likely never go back to Apple again. The 2013 moto x has changed my life, and I don't know if I can change phones without assist and touch less controls. Plus, the design of the phone is off the charts. At the current moment I am debating if I should get the 2nd gen or wait for the 3rd gen. I read somewhere that Motorola will try for at least ten years to get the moto x line popular out there in america and the world. They believe that reputation does take time and that lenovo knows their intentions.
PS: BTW each manufacturer in tech and software has had its bumps along the road. The 2013 moto x had phone defects, calls cutting out, and other problems. I'm pretty sure that at some point each phone has had some issue that was fixed later. At least Apple is good with its updates. In fact, when they push updates it is pushed to everyone at the same time unlike android. There are still quite a bit of phones not on kit Kat yet, but android L is around the corner.

The sad thing is we buy a CELL phone just to text, listen to music and take photos. I haven't seen my friends talk on their phones since the purchased them.

Better on the Moto X. Apple has improved this feature on the iPhone with each model, but it still can't touch Motorola (my closest friend has an iPhone 5 and one of my bosses has the 5S). My new X is even better in that regard then my 2013 one, and the 2013 was pretty great. I honestly forget I'm not talking on a landline, and when talking on speaker phone, this new X is really terrific. Apple beats Moto in the camera department but when it comes to reception and quality of phone calls, Motorola wins hands down.
Can someone please check if the following package is pre-installed on the Moto X 2014. It's essential to have it, in order to be able to make NFC Payments in Switzerland.

I'm not use to having a phone that can't browse (use data) and talk on the phone at the same time. Just asking your opinion, in your use of the phone has this been an issue for you? Anyone?
Go to Settings:Moto:Actions and there are 2 settings - Wave to silence and Approach for Moto Display that you can turn off
This only applies if you are on Verizon. I am on Verizon, but I don't expect it to be that big of an issue for me. VoLTE should be enabled in another month or so (I'm guessing when Android L is released?).
In the meantime, if I really need that feature, I'll hang up the call, then call them back using the Google Hangouts dialer which calls on LTE, and allows me to still use data.
I just tried it, and I can confirm that it works perfectly. I have had a google voice number for years, and when I call out using the Hangouts dialer, it makes the call on LTE and uses my google voice number.
