If your phone is rooted, there is a mod on xda gs3 development that disables the camera sound. At this time, that would be the only way.

Yes its been disabled not sure why though... maybe it makes the software run faster as it doesnt have to load off the sd card.

Quick question that i didnt see anyone else ask. When playing music with google play music can you hold down the volume keys to change the song when the screen is locked/screen is off. My old desire did this but my Electrify does not. Thanks for the great Q&A

I have a more simple request because I haven't seen this yet. Can I get some screenshots of the default apps? Primarily what the dialer, contacts, calendar, call screen and messaging screens look like? Samsung always has hideous layouts and wondering if I'm going to have to use GoContacts or something on this device. Would be a shame cause I like a lot of the gestures they added.

While you're on Wifi, definitely. Otherwise it depends on the carrier. I believe on AT&T and T-Mobile you can, because they use GSM. On Sprint and Verizon you can't because of their use of CDMA.

The Evo lte on Sprint can do it over 3G, so I hope the S3 can do it too.

Are you sure? I can see it working over LTE, but not over 3G.

For the most part, you can't do simultaneous surf/talk on 3G on CDMA networks such as Sprint and Verizon use. There's an exception to that, its called SVDO, and is a technology enhancement that carriers can install into their CDMA networks. I believe you'll find very limited coverage of SVDO from Verizon/Sprint however, as they've been focusing on LTE for their network upgrading, not CDMA/SVDO. The EVO LTE does support SVDO however, so its at least possible that the story posted was true, although he may have been using LTE (4G) instead, which is also fully capable of simultaneous voice/data.

FWIW, the S3 does support SVDO, in addition to LTE. So essentially ANY carrier network (GSM, SVDO, LTE) which is capable of simultaneous voice/data will enable the S3 to give you that function.

The call screen looks better than the previous versions

Also i believe the calendar is now called s planner

Contacts and text messaging looks more or less the same as before

Ive never used stock ICS before and i dont think i ever would in future... this touchwiz feels more smoother to me compared to my s2... just basic touches theyve added like the animations when swiping etc... make it easy to use. but i guess if your not getting this phone because your unsure of touchwiz... then its probably best to try it out in the shop before you buy...

IMO... Stock AOSP is freaking the most boring UI. CM9 with Nova Launcher was my preference on my ns4g and it will most likely be the same on my gs3.

My s2 did have problems when i was calling... very poor quality... ive had a few long calls since buying the s3 and i think the problems have been fixed... sound has been clear
