I've Had My Galaxy Note 4 Nearly Three Months & I've Never Taken My S-Pen Out - What Am I Missing?

Re: I've Had My Galaxy Note 4 Nearly Three Months & I've Never Taken My S-Pen Out - What Am I Missin

For anyone not using the Spen I suggest spending an afternoon on YouTube and search for spen. You will find uses you never even had an idea of.

Then put all your post-it notes and notepads out of reach. When you need to take a note and there is nothing else handy, pull out the spen, double-tap the screen with the pen button pressed. Up will pop the action note and go for it.

Are you ever out and about and fishing for a pen and paper? Pull out the spen. Won't take long and you'll wonder why you never did.

Its just like any other tool. Only useful when you need it. And indespensable when needed. But you need to learn how to use it.

Sure. And lots of us bought the phone thinking we'd never, ever use the S Pen and are pleasantly surprised to be wrong.

Enjoy your S pen, personally I haven't used the S pen with my previous Note 2, so im sure I wont miss not using it with my with my Note 4.

I rarely touch my Note 4 without using the S Pen.
Makes everything easier, typing is easier or just write if you prefer, better to play games with, web surfing far better.
I can not imagine having a Note 4 and never using the Pen.

That reminds me of around the turn of the century when all the people with a Horse and Buggy looked at the Automobile and said I will never use that, I prefer the horse.

The stylus is great for some games too.

Re: I've Had My Galaxy Note 4 Nearly Three Months & I've Never Taken My S-Pen Out - What Am I Missin

just a couple of days ago i was on the phone and was given a confirmation number....just put the call on speaker and whipped out the pen and took down the number in action memo.....ditto when talking to my son and wrote down his new address.....

in fact i use s note all of the time.....i went to a meeting this morning where everyone whipped out binders and i popped open my phone and my note 8 so i could use one for writing notes and one for referring to calendar etc!!

direct input.......one of the things i loved about pocket pc's back in the day was using a stylus to handwrite and have that turned into text, when i transitioned to my first smart phone i was shocked that a stylus was considered old school and no handwriting recognition. when the note came out i desperately wanted one and yet was on verizon and had to wait for the note 2. i now would never consider buying a phone or tablet without a stylus and handwriting recognition....and frankly the fact that the spen does a million other things is icing!!

Having both a note tablet and phone I went for a pen sized stylus that has an eraser head. Very convenient with Lecture Notes or S-Note. My tablet case even has an elastic pen holder for it.

Tempting.

Re: I've Had My Galaxy Note 4 Nearly Three Months & I've Never Taken My S-Pen Out - What Am I Missin

from what i read in this thread, the s pen is a waste. Pen/paper went out with the 90's. its just as easy to open an app and TYPE in a note or idea. my 76 year old mother uses a pen/paper

You can select text in images and it will convert it to regular text to copy and paste--re: it uses OCR. As mentioned, you cannot copy text of FB or other places easily but with the pen you can capture text off images or just the image itself. I often put them in the Scrapbook app that is very handy for organizing thoughts, ideas or research.
YOU CAN WRITE... no need for little pieces of paper everywhere with your lists or cryptic thoughts or passwords floating around.
Editing images is very handy with the pen.
I find "swype-ing" with it far easier than without or even worse, hunt and peck typing.
You can write on your Calendar app, which can be very handy because it is so much more visual than say the iPhone dots just letting you know "something" is going on a particular day of the month. Typing doesn't always cut it. Sometimes an image really is a thousands words.
OK, I'll stop. :)
The Note 4 is packed full of so many features that people don't notice or use. Part of me feels a little sad :'( for the engineers developing technology many people have no idea about...ha. Reminds me a bit of the movie "The Gods Must Be Crazy." That Note 4 that has fallen out of the sky is not fully understood.
It is BIG, so it could make a great paper weight without much of a learning curve. :D

Re: I've Had My Galaxy Note 4 Nearly Three Months & I've Never Taken My S-Pen Out - What Am I Missin

I use the S Pen for note taking in OneNote and snote every day.

I just found a new (to me) trick yesterday when using the phone with snote. I was on a support call (Bluetooth headset) and taking notes in snote, when I called back later to the same number, a notice pops up just above the dialer showing a thumbnail of the snote and tells me "you created this note the last time you used this number" or something to that effect. I tap the thumbnail and open the last note for this support case.

Now that IS sliq.

Well its called the Note series for a reason. If your not going to use the s pen, what's the point of getting a note?

Could not have said it better myself

May The note 4's be with you

Well, even without the pen few phones offer the sliq specs the Note does. ...which is why many choose it.

Re: I've Had My Galaxy Note 4 Nearly Three Months & I've Never Taken My S-Pen Out - What Am I Missin

to be honest I have a really hard time writing with the S pen so it demotivates me from using it much. After reading through this thread I am content to using it more :D. Thanks for the motivations guys!

Size, and great specs.

I use it to jot stuff down. It is right there on the phone, paper, well the phone is paper in the pocket all the time. Also use it for the calculator, https://forums.androidcentral.com/e...d=com.visionobjects.calculator&token=gYSknXbv better than a regular calculator.

Also can write an email or text, no tapping a pseudo keyboard.

I just got the calculator app thanks to your post. It rocks!
