'I've Ordered a Nexus 5' Thread! (Order & Shipping Discussion)

Does anybody know if a signature is required? and does UPS consider Saturday a business day? I'm just trying to figure out if I should be looking for this on Saturday or Monday. If Monday and it requires a signature then I'm screwed

It is safe to assume all US phones will be shipped from KY, especially if people in Cali are coming from KY. That is the main UPS distribution hub.

Anybody else seeing a status of "pre-ordered"? I ordered two phones within the first few minutes of it going live (email order confirmation has a timestamp of 2:07 EST), and one (16 GB black) says "leaves warehouse by November 5, 2013" but the other (16 GB white) just says "pre-ordered"?

Edit: I guess I really have two questions: 1) Why do the two phones have different statuses? 2) What does "pre-ordered" mean?

Other devices that I have gotten did not need a signature. And I do not believe that Saturday will count.

They should all be shipping from Louisville, KY. As Google uses UPS supply chain solutions for all there shipping and handling.

1 out of 3 of my orders just changed. "In Transit" from Louisville KY headed to DE. No scheduled delivery date. Is anyone going to try a pickup from UPS tomorrow or any choice members going to try for Saturday delivery?

Go to UPS website and sign up for UPS My Choice. You can electronically sign for packages and direct where to leave shipments either front door, back door, neighbor etc.

Mine also now says in-transit from Louisville,KY 2nd day air. I guess that means Monday?

2nd day air physically shipping today is Tuesday delivery.... 2nd day is 2 BUSINESS days and they only count Monday - Friday as Business days.... Monday is day one and Tuesday day two..... Usually YES they will require signature... with the tracking number you can call UPS and ask that they hold for pick up at the local terminal and you can go pick it up with a valid drivers license/ID proving you live at that address or has your full name on it..

Thanks! Better safe than sorry. Most stuff I order online is FedEx, which I think has a better system.

Does anyone know how google picks which customer to ship. I put an order in before my friend and he got a tracking number and I did not. Seems a bit wired as I thought it would be first come first serve.

My guess is they're prioritizing those who paid for the two-day delivery - did both of you choose the same shipping option?

Seems like a combination first come first served and geographic method. They're probably shipping to the west, south, and Midwest sooner than east. But I really don't know.:)

Scheduled Delivery:
Monday, 11/04/2013, By End of Day

I'm in Atlanta, GA.

Same here. I've never had a signature required when getting a device from the Play Store.

I had sign for my Nexus 4 last year and this year my Nexus 7 and both times I wasn't home @#&*!
