I've played with the HTC EVO 4G LTE ... Ask me anything!

Not sure if people are considering how big a deal this new camera is. There really needs to be a site that does phone camera reviews by real photographers, with photo comparisons from various mobile devices. That would be killer.

Check out reviews on Engadget that have input from Myriam Joire

There has never been a way to turn it off. You would need to root and flash it. Touchwiz lets you use the stock launcher if you prefer, so if anything they might do that. Wouldn't really matter though since it so close to stock

When the evo first came out you could go to stock Eclair I think it was at that time. The option was taken out when it updated to Froyo.

Seriously. All this talk of turning stuff "off" before ever using it. You'll be just fine with Sense. It improves on ICS.

Phil, can you answer some of the last round of questions if you get time? Storage, DLNA, BT, SIM, etc.

Just go to Best Buy & add a new line to a family plan (or switch to family plan). Best Buy doesn't require 30 days usage on a new line before transfer of the device; They will immediately transfer to your original line. Then hook up an OLD Sprint phone (crappie flip?) to the new line so that you do not have to pay any additional fees for 4g. 2nd lines are also free. Keep going to Best Buy for your upgrades & switch between the 2 lines to get upgrades more often!

Just an idea :-)

Like the way you think. Only it would be my third line. Maybe will keep the line turned on and give my 6-year-old a phone. 6-year-olds have phones now, right??

I did this a few years ago, great idea however.... Keep in mind that the 2nd lines are no longer free. They did away with that earlier this year... I pay 19.99 per each additional line now. I didn't realize this until my lsat statement and I called CS to find out why my bill increased.

Not quite - the 2nd line now costs $20/month but the cost of the main line drops $20/month. It sounds like it would be a wash, right? Almost like a shell game, moving the same money around and all. But in reality, if you have any sort of discount on your service it has always been applied to the main line and this new billing structure allows them to keep the total cost (before taxes and discounts) the same while not discounting you for the cost of the 2nd line, thereby slightly increasing your bill without increasing your basic charges. Pretty crappy, huh?

I find it soooo confusing, lol. My new bill was just emailed to me, its a whole 2 dollars cheaper. With 3 lines on family plan, insurance on 2 lines (my son burned through his claims so we canceled his ins.) & a work discount (which is only applied to my line now) I pay $189 ... which I guss is pretty good. Tmobile couldn't match that deal, nor Verizon and include the unlimited data, mobile to mobile and anytime mins starting@ 7. Back to the phone itself though. After watching the videos on it I don't think its ugly at all. I bet some great looking cases are being developed as we speak. The prospect of a white version makes me a little less upset I have to wait until December. Maybe I'll troll the forums until then scouting for issues.

Hey Phil

Why no beats audio branding like on other beats audio devices?

It may sound dumb but I like the way it looks on the phone:cool:

Phone Arena or HTC posted this morning on Twitter that the One X and the EVO 4G LTE will be the first phones with Beats Audio that do NOT include the Beats headphones. Very disappointed, I was looking forward to getting them in the box...

You honestly won't be missing too much. They really aren;t very good headphones, extremely overpriced, and extremely overrated. That being said, they were free, lol

Are you sure they were free? I for one can do without a phone coming with stuff I'll never use.

You guys are probably right, after I went Bose I was spoiled and never looked back. I guess I thought with all the hype they were good headphones....

Well its a valid question. I don''t see a need for the hostility. And as for what "You'll be just fine with", that's up to the user to decide. This isnt an Iphone, this is android where we have and should have choice. After all isnt that why we chose android.

Back to the topic on hand. I believe there is an option to disable certain apps. Like Htc's music app and from what i hear even the phone and contact app. I saw it in Engadget's review.

HTC Sense 4 miscellaneous screenshots - Engadget Galleries

You can see it in the 6th picture. And it mentioned in their review

HTC Sense 4 review -- Engadget

"Disabling apps: Not every app or process can be disabled in Sense, and there doesn't appear to be any rhyme or reason to which ones are affected. The camera app and bluetooth share can't be disabled, for instance, but the dialer and contacts apps can. With that said, there are still plenty more options to get rid of stuff on Sense 4 than any Gingerbread-running version."

I don't get why people act like such android purists but aren't willing to root. If you want a stock experience go nexus. If you don't want a nexus, root. The original evo had a great community for getting new roms.

Like i said we all chose android for its freedom. I will get the htc evo 4g lte then root and run stock ICS on it. I never said im not willing to root. Im just saying we deserve an answer that doesnt sound like it came out of Steve Jobs mouth!
