J5 (2017) vs Huawei p20 lite

Hi all! I'm looking at a personal phone, as my work phone is my main. I have been offered some budget/mid range phones by my provider, and wondered if any people on here could speak from experience. As far as i can tell, the p20 lite includes a headphone jack and micro sd card slot, which is essential. But performance wise, can anyone give me a heads up on the difference between these two?

Welcome to Android Central! I too would recommend the Huawei P20 Lite. I've used one of its cousins (the Honor 8); and EMUI is very smooth and very customizable (download EMUI Theme Editor from Google Play). It's an awesome phone and the camera is excellent. I'd definitely recommend it.

I've got used to Samsung phones and I feel more comfortable using them, so I would vote for J5. In fact, I still own a j5 model (2015) and it's working pretty well. I have had almost no problems with it and that's why I still do not intend to buy a new model. My parents have Huawei (not P20 lite, but other models) but the thing that I really don't like about them is that there are many vocabulary and grammatical mistakes in the phone language (it's not English, but Bulgarian). I'm not sure if P 20 lite will have the same language errors, and which are all the languages in which such errors occur.

Spec for spec, the Huawei P20 Lite is a better phone. It's not even in the same league. I am wondering why those are your choices when the j5 is an older and lower end model. An J7 Pro or J7+ would be more up to the task of competing against the P20 Lite.

Yup, the P20 Lite is definitely in a better ballpark.
