I was excited a new premium phone is coming out and the reviews p20 pro were getting.. I would gladly pay $1200 for phone with a very good lense and sensor. After parsing through the images myself; i’ve decided to wait for the pixel 3 even though i hate the lack of headphone jack.

Imo the google phones are using a more expensive and larger sensors vs it’s competitors. Even my nexus 6p with updated google processing software probably outperforms most of the flagships today.

Dxomark rates p20 pro at significantly higher than the others. They give a lot of weight to it’s telephoto performance in which is has a 3x optical zoom. Also bokeh performance.

Pixel 2, to my eyes, gives you most true to life pics by far. It missed focus a little in the 2nd shots here. Also, keep it mind this review is earlier version of processing, google has continued to improve the processing and update phones, especially bokeh performance. even my old nexus 6p gets the benefits of these updates. You can see how much their bokeh mode has improved.

If you value true to life color and shading accuracy and detail, the traditional measurements in camera picture quality; it’s clear the p20 pro is the worst of the 3 with a heavily processed image. If you really like that over sharpened clayface look, you can just batch apply it yourself in post.
