Jan 2016 update will not reboot & install

Just updated from 4.4 -> 6.0.1 via a chain of OTA updates. Everything seems to have gone ok, except I now have the Jan 2016 security update downloaded but whenever I click Restart & Installl I get the 10..9.. countdown, then "Rebooting Now" and exactly nothing else happens. If I switch off/on manually, the update is still there waiting.

Any way to either force this reboot, or flush the update and get it to redownload?

HI there,

Is your device rooted? If so, you'll need to unroot in order to get OTA updates.

Device is stock, not rooted.

Getting the update originally was not the problem, it downloaded it but will not reboot the phone to install it

Are you able to power off the device, then boot into Recovery? Select Reboot Now from there?

Hi
I'm able to reboot into recovery and reboot from there but with the same result - the update is not applied. Trying to install it still results in the same, stuck at "Rebooting now" with no actual reboot

My phone isn't even seeing the January update. I'm still on December. I just got it though, so maybe when I use it more it'll show up?

You may have to do a factory reset from recover. It may be some software on your device conflicting with the update
