Looks like the check to update function is working again...just checked and update was there!

Mine arrived unsolicited on January 3rd. I was shocked. I never got security updates when I was on the beta program, of course, but I exited the program when the final Android 8.0.1 came out.

Seems like Google still hasn't got the bugs worked out of their "Beta vs Non-Beta" devices. Since we're all (should be) on the public release of Oreo, just unenroll from the Android Beta program. I wasn't getting the update so i thought "hmm, what if I unenrolled?" Unenrolled from the Beta, checked for updates and now I'm getting the download.

You weren't receiving any updates because the beta was over (Dec patch was official). It was checking for more beta updates since you were still enrolled. No bugs

Not at all what's happening. My device is still enrolled in the Beta program. I received the official "upgrade from Beta to Public" patch in November (IIRC). My Oreo is/was official, not beta. The instant that I unenrolled my device from the Beta program, I received the January security patch. Nothing was lost on my phone because I didn't need to revert back to a public channel release (because I was already there).

This "bug" also caused everyone on the Beta to get their official updates much later than the general public.

Oh ok

Fwiw I did not receive my update any later than the general public as a long time beta user

Looks like I'll be manually installing this update from the website again. Ugh what's the point of an OTA update feature !

I haven't received the January update yet on the PXL. Pretty sad considering I have already received the OTA update on my much maligned Essential PH-1.
