Jelly Bean 4.2 Camera

I tried this with Root Explorer first, but it didn't work. I tried it again with the ES File Explorer and did everything listed http://forums.androidcentral.com/sho....php?p=2533545. I assume
"change extensions to GalleryGoogle apk and odex to bak and obak" means just rename it to GalleryGoogle.bak. Also, how do I "Wipe cache and dalvik cache"?

Update: I thought I had CW Recovery installed, but I didn't. Installed it and now I've wiped my cache and dalvik cache, but the camera and gallery don't show up at all in my app list. Now what?

New to android new to the forum.. Regards from Beirut/Lebanon.
The Dev-Host - 4.2Camera_t04.zip Is perfectly functioning on Samsung Galaxy S3 international version on UK's Jellybean 4.1.2.
All I did was: Copy the .zip to my phones internal storage.- Flashed in recovery mode. Note: I didn't backup nor wiped cache and dalvik(I guess its called dalvik maybe marvil, mavrick maybe).
Just flash the .zip. I kept both cameras and both galleries and both are functioning perfectly. Thx to all who made that possible.

Anyone else having a problem with the camera image lagging? I have a samsung phone with 4.0.4 and Touchwiz.

I got it working by following windfrenzy's instructions.

However, the photosphere doesn't render the whole panorama. So far I've done two and both have a vertical strip of gray, one larger than the other... so it is not processing all the images. I made sure and was careful to check that I didn't miss any "little blue circles" and that I was shooting the entire panorama. camera and video recording work. Haven't tried regular panorama.

I subscribed to this thread because I was unable to get it to work, and still am. I have since put the AOKP rom on with this camera and it works fine.

Ok... so I'm running PACman v19.9 (idk if that matters) but when I copy/pasted the APK to my system/app the camera took 1 pic then froze up on that pic. I probably installed it wrong. Can someone please walk me through the steps? It'd be much appreciated.

FYI- I only downloaded the GalleryGoogle.apk but yes I did set permissions correct and rebooted. Are there files that I am missing or something?

Like I said, much appreciated to anyone that can help.

EDIT: SCRATCH THAT... got it to work!

update: ok, photosphere is now working normally it seems. I odexed the apks, and I don't know if that helped or not... but it rendered the complete panorama last go...

pretty cool!

Courtesy of yours truly.

Move to system/app folder in Root Explorer. Make sure the permissions are set to RW-R-R. Reboot.

Let me know if anything doesn't work, it works fine for me (see pics below).

Oh, and don't try to install it. A reboot with the proper permissions set will populate it :). If you want, remove the other camera/gallery, which for most is Gallery2.apk.

Here's a link to the latest flashable zip, courtesy of mariusox! ==> http://forums.androidcentral.com/ve...830-jelly-bean-4-2-camera-20.html#post2283346

Thanks a ton OP, working very well with my ICS 4.04

One Question guys, It is safe to edit build.prop? I read some encounter bootloops after editing it, wanna know how to avoid such and wanna know if i can edit it in the ES file explorer? Thanks!

I am not sure if my "discovery" is of any relevance, but just in case.
All amateurs like myself that are having trouble with Tiny Planet- Make sure your photo sphere is a complete 360 degree of the scenery+ sky + ground all in one shot (3 to 4 360 spins to get it done, but its worth it) . If its not a complete (sky, scenery, ground) 360 shot; the tiny planet option will always crash on my Samsung S3 int.
Regards

Here's a shot of the tiny planet I came up with- edited a bit due to some minor distortions.

awesome! How'd you get the black circle in the center to not be there, or add the corners? Did you just edit it yourself, like in gimp or photoshop?

Edit: nevermind... for some reason it didn't work on my first coupld of pano's, but it is working now. You just click to "add a frame" and that will fill out the corners and center! very cool... cant wait to get some nature shots!

This camera is killing my work impetus!

Edit: ok, just had one pano photo not show up in my gfallery, it showed the rendering notification, and I found it in the correct place with a file explorer. weird... app definitely a bit buggy, but works well. I find that you get a good tiny planet if you shoot from lower to the ground,

dhworph, If you take a regular pano using "photo sphere" feature you will always get the black circle in the center of the planet and the corners- on my device (S3) I couldn't apply tiny planet that way the app always crashed the gallery.
Try taking a whole sphere "pano" .start with the scenery when you finish a whole 360 degree of dots and turns, while still in photo sphere direct your phone to the sky and do a 360 of the sky too. then do the same to the ground then you may press the stop button for a full photo sphere not a pano. that way the app won't crash on tiny planet nor will the black corners or center circle appear.

Ray, I got it working... I made sure I got all the "blue dots" each time, but it was just buggy at first. You can take the black circle out of the tiny planet by applying a "frame" in the edit menu. It took a couple tries for me to get it working, but it works now.

However, the gallery stores the photos out of order... weird... hope thats fixed when the official release comes out... not a big deal though.

Hi guys,

I'm having problems getting the photo sphere to work. Running the camera app from a Samsung Note 2 stock rom. Pushed all the files to the appropriate location as per the instructions in the earlier posts.
Got the camera, video, gallery and panorama to work but the photo sphere still shows that "your device is unsupported"
Any ideas?

Dhworph,, not sure about the lag or the bugs, but for my device (S3) It was lagging and crashed when I tried the flash in photos, all I did was updated all google related apps on my phone and everything ran smoothly ever since.

Luminscence69,, check around page 18-23 i guess, there's a fix for that where you change something concerning the phones name in some system file.

I can't seem to get this to work. I place the zip on my ext SD card, then I flash it, but when I take a picture the camera freezes on the picture I just took and doesn't work after that one picture... GoogleCamera.apk and the gallery already have permissions set to rw-r-r and are already in system/app. What am I doing wrong? Any help is appreciated!

Joe. for my S3 int. version running 4.1.2 all I did was:
-Download the t04.zip
-Although all say its better to clear cache and dalvik in recovery mode, I have no idea why I didn't.
-Flashed the t04.zip in recovery without even renaming the old camera or gallery.
-at first everything was lagging (the whole phone). and the new camera used to crash when i used flash in photo's and tiny planet.
-I updated all google related apps.
-At this point I thought of renaming the old gallery and old camera (On my S3 the old gallery name is secgallery.apk)
-everything ran smooth without any crashes since.
-I renamed the old gallery and camera back to their original names. and have both camera's and galleries now working correctly.
I think I was a bit lucky on making it work...

Hey, my name is laTrell and I have the T-Mobile LG G2X when I open the camera, I get a blank white screen. It will capture a picture, but nothing shows.

I just discovered that if you do a photosphere in potrait mode the black cirles end up MUCH tinier, and that makes the tiny planet look way better too.

1. Camera still buggy for me... sometimes leaving a vertical strip of gray unrendered, about 1 out of every 3 or 4 photospheres do that.
2. photos in gallery out of order
3. sometimes editing a tiny planet doesn't let me "change the scale" slider, where it sort of zooms in and out to choose the tiny planet level.

I am soooo stoked on this camera though... loving the tiny planets...

all my google apps are up to date (all apps on my phone are), plus I just did a recent factory reset and started from scratch. I also odexed the gmscore and gallerygoogle apk's (but all the issues listed above persisted form before I odexed). Camera is a bit snappier maybe, after odexing.
