Back on topic though - not everyone wants to root. Not everyone likes to root. Not everyone knows how to root. And just because you root and install a custom ROM doesn't mean everything is going to work great anyway. Cameras don't work, BT stacks are out of whack, cameras work fine but not the flash. LTE won't work because of CDMA drivers, blah blah blah. These boards, as well as the ones over at XDA, are full of bug and glitch reports and all manner of horror stories. I'm not saying that custom ROMs are bad. They're not. Especially if you have some time and patience. They can be fantastic and plain fun to play around with. But if rooting and custom ROMs always solved everything and didn't come with their own issues, then everyone would do it, including the carriers.

Also, how did you get an OG EVO to run on AT&T?

It's true that not everybody wants to root, and that's fine. It's also true that acting as if rooting solves everything is as helpful as telling someone to just install Linux to fix their issues with OS X or Windows. However rooting can be a legitimate fix for things and therefore a legitimate suggestion for some things. Also just wanted to point out that all the Sense based ROMs over at xda generally work as well if not better than stock. It's only the CM10 and AOSP ROMs that are having trouble since they have to basically rebuild all the drivers.

no its the same design basically. same internals for the most part. The same snap dragon, and camera just basically a GSM verient called the inspire. Just no HDMI. I get what your saying I forgot about the cdma part lol Verizon got the same issue.I guess I'm a bit based as I will never own a phone without root. I don't give 2 s about the camera. I have taken one video, and maybe 12 pictures. I don't use blue tooth. I did love the old evo design those I had people I knew let me play with it just had horrible let battery life I wish sprint didn't suck ass here. My sister has a Motorola with sprint but she gets 1 or 2 bars at the house. Otherwise I would switch in a heart beat
