July is for 2.3

The most recent build is only a couple days old (EG09 - 7/9), which says they're still ironing something out. With the exception of the low signal modem crash, the ef02 build was pretty darn solid. It'll be a couple weeks of testing the EG09 before they consider releasing it as an official. Touchwiz has not presented an issue in the EE03 and EF02 builds, so I doubt TW is the holdup for release. That said, I will say the earliest we'll see an official GB is the first week of September. Only sooner if they leave the modem crash in, with the promise of a minor update for those affected.

One commenter on the linked source, indicated that the modem crash was solved with EF10 modem, but it has only helped a little, but still crashes several times a day.

For those without a 7" Galaxy Tab, Sprint issued an official Gingerbread release for that device today. The Epic version can't be far behind.

if they can fix the reception and modem issues in 2.2, i'll be a happy camper, that and netflix will make my day. I can stop filling up my sd card with high res video and fill it with music instead.

I can find many a previous post that because _____ Samsung phone got Froyo/Gingerbread the Epic must be close. Seen them even months ago for GB. Seems clear to me that Samsung does not consider the Epic to be one of their high end phones, important enough for updates when every other high end is getting them. Mid level phones got froyo before the Epic.

I was rocking the abysmal Samsung Intercept when it got the Froyo update. I had to laugh that all the Galaxy S phones were still stuck on Eclair... I would NOT consider the Intercept even a mid-level device, but rather on the low end of low end. Won't make that mistake again ;)

Every device is different, The Galaxy tab getting it's update has exactly _nothing_ to do with the Epic getting it's update. We know it's coming along nicely as seen in the leaked versions.

It will be nice to get an official release. I have been really happy with the latest GB leak but am looking forward to hopefully a few bug fixes.

I am running a custom rom based on ef02 with the ef10 modem. Let me say that gingerbread sings on the Epic and that Sprint and Sammy owe it to their customers to get it out ASAP!
