Jump to S9 or stay with the G6

I'm with T-Mobile, and this thread has got me thinking I'll at least wait to see if the release of the V30 Q comes with a good G6 trade-in offer, because a V30 gets you almost twice as much as a G6 in exchange for an S9.

Waiting to see what trade-in offers come about is a really smart idea! :)

It started after the second update I got I think. Didn't have an issue at first. So roughly been doing it since October?

It's very sporadic, only done it once today. But, I haven't typed a lot today. I can turn off gesture typing and I don't have an issue but then of course I lose the convenience of that.
I have the exact same issue with touch trying. Very frustrating.

Theot . . I have had a similar experience, and my conclusion has been that anytime I allow my thumbs to rest on the keyboard just a microsecond too long, or if I'm 'lazy' and don't completely get my thumb off the glass as I move from one letter to the next, I think the software assumes I'm gesture typing and goes into that mode . . that probably doesn't help you but that's my 2¢
I'm being that has something to do with it. It's not keyboard specific either.

Been doing the math, I'd like to try the S9+ out but if I use my jump I am suck with it for awhile. Other option is a pixel 2. Leaning towards the pixel 2. It's cheaper actually. I think I just need to try stock Android too see what all the hype is about.

im seeing that same thing occasionally too.. its like a dual spell check and its annoying as hell because I cant seem to turn it off

I almost exclusively use swype for sending messages and what not. it's definitely faster if you can get a handle on it

I did too for a long time...but then others started adding GIF support...and then they discontinued development.
I tried Swiftkey. I wanted to like it, I really did...but it really did a TERRIBLE job of interpreting my swiping. I'd say I had to backspace/correct up to 50% of the text it gave back. Swiftkey is by far the worst and I'll never understand why it gets so many great reviews. I'm on Gboard now and it is *almost* as good as Swype. Almost.

So update on my original post, I got a pixel 2. Really liking the experience. Camera is phenomenal and the software is just so easy to use.
