June Security OTA?

Mine arrived today on my Pixel 2 XL!
Before it was the 5th of each month.
I guess they delayed the OTA update because of the Fingerprint bug...

What Fingerprint bug? I got my OTA on June 4th and my Fingerprint Reader has worked flawlessly both before and after the update. I have a Pixel 2 XL 128.

I think some that don't have AOD always on experience a delay. Some claim as much as 2 seconds but that seems awfully long. The video I saw was more like a half to one second..

I prefer to use AOD and when I put my finger on the sensor, the feeling I get is literally an instantaneous response. It's quick enough that I don't think I could even measure it with a stopwatch. That's why my response to that post was "What Fingerprint bug?".

I wonder if the response some are seeing is actually the loading of a web page which could definitely be measured in multiple seconds for some websites.

I don't know but I don't get a delay regardless of setting. That's not to say that others don't have an issue.

I've never had a delay either. My suggestion for those that are seeing a delay would be to contact Google.

Na I don't run to the manufacturer for those issues. Report it? Sure but 9 times out of 8 they won't have a clue how to fix something like that via support chat and I'm better off on my own .

I certainly agree with your comment about first level support. Those people are trained to ask what the problem is and then they try to match a solution from their script. If it isn't in their script, they're clueless. I should have said to simply report it just as you said. Google will probably pay attention if there are enough reports about the same problem.

Heh heh - having worked in software/hardware validation for a number of years, you're confusing knowing that there's a problem with actually fixing it.

I don't see AOD (Always On Display). If it isn't turned ON, can you turn it ON and let us know if that affects the speed? From what I'm reading, when you have AOD turned ON, there is no delay.

It's off. I don't use it. Give me a minute or two to try it with AOD on, and I'll post my results.
