June Software Update

I just had a good conversation with my friends about iPhone vs Android. I was honest. I told them them that iMessage and FaceTime are iPhone-only. Those can't be beat. The iPhone 13 Pro Max's battery life has no peers. ...but even with all of that. I want my S22 Ultra and then I proceeded to explain the different reasons why.

You know what I learned? They didn't care. They're busy with their Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, iMessage, and FaceTime, etc. (all but the last two things I couldn't possibly care less about) and they could not care less about customizing their phones or choosing different launchers and having control over things.

It was an interesting conversation and I did learn some things.

This is exactly how I would've expected it to go. I think that boils it down toone significant difference betwen a lot of iPhone and a lot of Android users. The freedom (customization, 3rd party app options) you get with Android, by and large, competes with the "it just works" mentality of IOS.

There are things about the iPhone that goes beyond the phone that also works for them... they have better watch integration and 3rd party support, Apple CarPlay, AirPods and other accessories. Integration with iPad and MacBooks if you use them.

Also their support is second to none being able to take a device to any Apple Store in the country and if under warranty often times get a iPhone replaced and restored. I remember being on business and my iPhone had an issue... found a Apple Store, talked to a genius and walked out with a replacement phone and restoring a backup from iCloud and back to business... literally.

Black screen of death on my Note 20 Ultra, Had to take it to a UBreakIFix and I was out a month without a phone because of their poor handling of my phone and had to use my own spare phone as a backup.

Yeah, thanks for the reminder about Apple's ecosysstem and intangibles. They're a huge boon.

Packistan and Turkey Snapdragon models received the June update today. 1700 MB file size being reported.

Good to hear some reports in this thread of U.S. carrier locked models receiveing the update as well.

Netherlands reports receiving the update today as well.

U.S. Verizon locked users reporting receiving the update too.

Yep a lot of the general public still see's the iPhone as a "status symbol" As all the celebrities and famous people are always seen with one. Others just think its easier to use and more reliable than Androids. Yes I know Android is much more popular now than ever. But in my personal experience. Almost everyone I know or see around has an iPhone.

Yup. And iphones are AGGRAVATING if one ever forgets their icloud password. My dad forgot his after upgrading to iPhone 13. And his icloud account is now in account recovery amd they said it could be several days before they send a link, and even when they do, it's going to the iCloud account in which dad can't access because he can't remember his password and needs it reset!!! How are you suppose to reset your icloud password when they send the link to the account in which you ate trying to reset/recover the PW? Dumbest crap ever. And my dad HAS to grt his icloud straightened out soon so he can turn off "find my iphone" and factory reset it to send in for the trade in. If it's not corrected, he will have to pay full.price, and he will be LIVID, and I don't blame him.

Why does Apple have to make it so difficult? Why can't they just seend a verification email to an alternate email specified by you, instead of locking the account into recovery mode, in which they say nothing can be done to speed the process. By their logic of "several days" it could end up being two weeks before they send the reset code, and even then it's going into the icloud account d'oh.

Have forgotten my Samsung and Google passwords and NEVER had that kind of trouble. They sent me reset links to alternate emails, and typically recieved them within minutes. And boom easy to reset and create a new password.

This one experience is enough to convince me to NEVER use an apple product again myself.

My Ultra just received the update as well...Locked on Verizon, Phoenix, USA.
is this the one you got? They had been mentioning specific improvements in certain areas on various Android sites, such as camera improvement and stuff like that. But this one just says performance enhancement and is ambiguous about what those are. Are these camera updates part of this?

Didn’t add a trusted cell phone number to send a verification code if you forgot your password?? That’s usually a common method for a lot of secured sites like banks and such.

And if you are already logged in and you are just trying to sign out of your iclouds so that you can erase your phone and forgot your password, they still give you a number of options to reset your password... asks for your pin number you use to access the phone to take you straight to a password reset. And if for some reason you don't know your pin number... then it again sends a code to your trusted number.

I don't think Apple makes it any tougher for one to reset their password. But they don't make it easy for someone to steal your device and try to wipe it to obtain a free iPhone or the data that's in it. That was the reason they set up security to not allow a person to steal and phone and just erase it to use for themselves or sell it.

Unfortunately he didn't set up trusted numbers, so the only phone that got a code was his.
