I couldn't wait so I bought this phone yesterday from T-Mobile and my contract is with AT&T; I punched in the unlock code; put in my AT&T sim card and it works perfectly. Just had to reboot so that it would just recognize the sim. One thing though that I think is really cool is that I get great 4G from AT&T now. Before when I just had the OG Note and AT&T 4G I only got one bar of service which was pretty consistent considering where I work, but now I'm one bar shy of full. Has anyone else expierenced this?

Good info. I can wait another week to get my att model. What was the cash price on TMO?

Hey SSG, question for you - I too bought the T Mobile version yesterday thinking it would also be easier to unlock, root and debloat than the Verizon model. I bought the phone ouright and put it on a 60 $ plan that allows their HSPA+ network plus unlimited text and talk. Not too impressed with the network speeds so with all that being said, how do I get the unlock code from T Mobile?

Once unlocked, is it really easy as taking it to the at&t store and putting it on a 4G month to month plan? Thank you in advance! Any help would be greatful

Well initally when I planned to get this phone I already had a contract with AT&T with the OG Note. I couldn't wait for AT&T to get one so I just went to T-Mobile knowing that they pretty much work on the same signal. I was pretty surprised to get 4G when I put in the AT&T sim card. I was really expecting HSPA+ or 3G. To get the unlock code just go here Unlock Cell Phone & Cell Phone Unlock Codes | UnlockThatPhone
It costs about $35 for the code and it'll take them a few hours for them to send it to you via email. But you do need the AT&T sim first. Once you put the card in and punch in the code it'll say unlock was successful. Then wait a few minutes for it to pick up the signal and the new sim. If it didn't recognize it just reboot it and it should work.

So you are getting 4G LTE signals from At&t? If so, that's pretty awesome!

att 4g is not lte its 3g+ huge difference but hspa (3g+) is more than adequate for the majority of ppl

I don't know how the carrier modified versions work but my international version correctly displays H and then H+ when I get HSPA+. None of that fake 4G branding crap!

What do the US versions do?

Sprint and Verizon have a truer 4G (considering the backhaul and such) where AT&T and Tmobile don't have it as a true 4G.

AT&T is rolling out LTE in some markets but they are years behind Verizon but ahead of Sprint.

AT&T plays games with the term 4g so I'm not sure if the poster with the unlocked T-Mobile phone is getting LTE or H+.

I wouldn't say they are ahead of Sprint...

Sprint is doing things a bit differently than other carriers. When AT&T starts working in a city on HSPA+, they don't turn the tower on for anything except testing until the ENTIRE area is covered..meaning every tower in that specific sub-contractors work area is complete. THEN, they turn it on, and people go "WOW I GOT THEM 4G's".

Sprint, however, isn't completing cities and turning on 4G...they are turning on towers as they get them updated (with backhaul and equipment)...

So even though Sprint only shows it has a couple of cities that are active 4G, they have hundreds of 4G sites that are already being used by subscribers, in about 30 of the 50 US states.

S4GRU can give specifics on which cities, but there are people siting 4G almost daily, but definitely weekly in different areas. Even though you won't find where it says that city may be 4G active....it may have 75% completion, and people are blazing on their 4G (TRUE) with speedtests from them showing some 20+mbps download, and 10+mbps uploads.

I know for a fact that Sprint has done SOMETHING in my area, because I used to see ATROCIOUS data speeds...but I don't hardly ever use data away from home...I had done speedtests while out in the little city near me...and I never saw under a 400ms pingtime, a .30mbps download, and a .10mbps upload....until yesterday. I decided to do some tests while at the DR with my son getting his ortho appt set-up from where he broke his arm...and the first speedtest popped over 1.06mbps download right away...with a 119ms ping. I thought "eh, fluke with speedtest app..can't be right. It'll settle down and slowly drift to .30mbps again"....

I was way wrong. I did 19 speedtests, and every single one was over 1.00mbps download, over .60mbps upload, and had under 130ms ping times. That's just on 3G...so if they are working near me, I'll def see it light up soon and report it's sighting on the S4GRU lists.

I too am seeing remarkable better coverage of 4g and better 3g speeds on sprint as well. So sprint is doing something or this phone is just so much better it makes everything else better.
