Just awful. Will 5.0.2 fix this?

Updated to 5.0.1 about three days ago and my battery life is non-existent now. In the last hour, just listening to music (the majority of that time idling), I've lost 40% of my battery and it's in low battery state so I had to power save again. Having to charge it two or three times a day. Admittedly before I had power saving always on, but still this is poor.

Phone heats up as well. It did so before, but it last did it a long long time ago, because of an app.

There's lag. Everywhere. It's better since recovery booting and clearing the cache, but it's still lag-ridden. It was working well yesterday though.

Features that I used are now gone. Features they've added don't work all that well (the notifications on lock screen one).

But at least it looks nice, so that's something. If they fixed the battery and the lag, I wouldn't have an issue.

I've read that a factory reset will fix it.

Galaxy S4

Do a factory reset on a fully charged battery. Leave the phone in peace to let Android Runtime (ART) do its complete indexing. Anything from 5 to 12 minutes.

A Factory reset might be your best option.

Keep in mind that this is a major upgrade to the phone's operating system... and there is always the possibility that the data that got brought forward doesn't work perfect with the new software. Everyone's phones are different.. apps, settings, stored data, etc... that's why one person's phone upgraded and runs like a Swiss watch and the one next to it runs like a piece of junk.

Major updates like this always have issues... I haven't come across few technologies that have a pristine track record of doing major updates in place... desktop operating systems, enterprise level software (like database servers), etc... More often than not, the developer/manufacturer will suggest what is effectively a full uninstall of the previous version and clean install of the new one. There are just too many variables to test for and address.

Battery depleted. At 1% now. GSAM stats say 75% of my battery was depleted in 2 hours. It spent probably half of that idling at super high temperature.

Factory resets take a while to get everything back the way it was again. Previously reset it on Kit Kat because of a problem
