Just bought a Samsung Tab A and it is not connecting to the wifi

I bought the Samsung Tab A just yesterday and it is not connecting to my home wifi. I changed the ip address and it connected but the internet was not working as I couldnt browse on the internet or go to the playstore. Could somebody please help me

It's brand new so bring it back for an exchange.

I exchanged it for an ipad and it had the same problems but i flushed the DHCP on my modem and disconnected 2 of the LAN cables in my modem, one for my android box and the other for my Bell Fibe TV and it was able to connect and work fine.
