Just cancelled my Play store order

I guess what I don't understand is why that wasn't option #1? Did you preorder from google based on the assumption you'd get it before retail?

Yes. I do not live close to any big box stores. I assumed (you know what they say about that) that I would not be able to buy one locally any time close to the pre-order arrival.

Then the leaks start that Gamestop is going to put them on sale on the 12th, which would be damn close to the first pre-order arrivals. Obviously, google then says "crap, we can't have that.....send out emails stopping sales". Then nerds spiral out of control all across the internetz.

What google should have done was to put "Or buy one locally at one of the 7000 gamestop locations the same day or sooner than this pre-order will arrive....and save on shipping" next to the pre-order button. Then it would have been an informed purchase.

Okay, that makes sense if you don't live close to a retail spot. I was going to order from the play store and saw they wanted S&H so I passed and waited for retail. Then one day I walked into gamestop & found out they were taking preorders.

What's so hard to understand about cancelling and picking one up locally? Let's say that Gamestop gets the ok to start selling the day the first pre-orders arrive (local store has plenty to sell). I literally drive right by the local Gamestop everyday on my way to work. Walk in, buy locally (supports local economy a bit), save on shipping costs, and enjoy.

Let's say they don't since that is pure conjecture and speculation. You don't know when the retail release will be, and I think it will be after the 1st wave of pre-order shipments are received not just shipped. Maybe ever after the 2nd wave but who knows until it happens?

Some people saved the shipping and got an extra $25 credit (they say) and are willing to wait. Some people saved $50 by going with the 8GB device over the 16GB device. Whatever your circumstances, you make decisions base on your priorities and requirements.

If it's worth waiting and making a trip to a local store for whatever reason, fine. I still don't think so and will leave my pre-order as is.

That "support the local economy" argument doesn't work either, you're taking a job away from the UPS man/woman. They have families to feed too, not just GS employees

I just called 4 gamestops in my area. 3 out of the 4 said they had them for pre orders only and if you did preorder you can come pick yours up now. 1 already sold 2 today. The 4th store told me they got an email not to sell until further notice. Wow..I should preordered from GameStop. They also said they have the 8gb not just the 16gb.

Yeah, mine said they would only have the 8GB - they told me the 8 was only available through Google Play. I wanted the 16GB anyway- I figured it's worth some extra space. So excited - I thought I'd be waiting until the 31st! And I'm road tripping today - this makes it soooo much better.

In a recording that can be heard through Google’s Support line, they've announced that Nexus 7 orders are shipping today and that all pre-orders will ship within the next three business days. Once your tablet ships, you will receive a confirmation email from Google. Calling them will get you no where – you have to sit back and wait for the shipping email to arrive. To hear the good news for yourself, you can listen to the recording by calling Google Support at 1-855-83-NEXUS.

I cancelled my Play store also today, well atleast i called in and cancelled but they havent cancelled it totally yet. I had two ordered from Google and switched to Sams Club to save $40

Just canceled my GP pre-order will pick one up at my local Future shop first thing Monday morning.First time preording from google play lesson learn.
