Just cancelled my S3 Pre-order

I have a Visa Signature card (FYI - signature cards are for people with outstanding credit and actually allow charges over your credit limit). Credit limit is $15,000. Card has a zero balance on it.

There was absolutely zero reason for the charge to be declined. I have had this card since 2006, and have never had a charge declined on it until today. Since there are multiple people on this forum with the same experience, this tells me that Verizon has a trash e-commerce site that is written so poorly it trips fraud alerts at apparently almost every bank in the country.

This is all on Verizon - not me.

Definitely a weird situation. I also used my Visa Signature branded card and mines went through without a hitch.

Verizon does not charge until ready to ship - therefore the shipping date would be the 19th. I see no lie here.

My shipping date was showing 7/11 for DAYS prior to this.

This is what I am talking about.... You NEVER get a straight answer from anyone at Verizon. Not even when it is in print on their own web site.

So how soon did you respond after you were notified about the declined charge? Why not ask to speak with a supervisor if you're in the right? Sounds like you canceled the pre-order out of anger/frustration instead of trying to work it out.

Maybe you can get one on the 12th. Which one did you order?

You do know that cc companies can be contacted prior to charges to ensure no issues are encountered. Well, obviously many don't. I can say that in 30 years of card use I have never had a card declined unless due to my own negligence in some way or another.

But the conspiracy theory is that a mega company is haphazardly cancelling sales?? Does that sound ignorant to anyone else? After all, they don't want sales or profits do they?

As a consumer, you have responsibilities, and communicating with your 15k signature card should be one of them.

I was literally reading my email the second the Verizon email hit my inbox. I was on the phone within Verizon within 15 minutes. Yes, I spoke to a supervisor. No, I did not act like a psychopath. No, I will not act like one for a phone nor should I have to.

15 minutes from the time I got the email to talking to verizon.... Yet they could do nothing for me.

Part of me wonders if all of the CC declines were orchestrated in order to provide a convenient excuse for Verizon being unable to meet their previous time commitments to customers. A little too convenient that so many "credit card" issues are suddenly hitting so many people IMO.

The fact that there are tons of people on this forum experiencing the same issue tells me something else is going on here - and it sure as hell is not my fault.

I make extremely large purchases online using the card all the time and *never* have issues. I ordered a $2000+ retina mac last month. NO issues. Month before that ordered two Geforce cards for a total of around $700. NO problem.

Yet order a phone for less money from Verizon and all of a sudden I am declined? Sorry my friend - this is something that Verizon is doing wrong on their end.

I would venture a guess that most of the problem comes from the length of time between you agreeing to pay Verizon, and the time Verizon came after your money. For some pre orders it would have been close to a month?

That's a good point. I wish Verizon would have just taken the money at the time of preorder.

Yes, this would have solved all the issues. At the very minimum, they should have put up a warning that this type of situation was likely to occur due to a poorly designed e-commerce site on their end so that we could preemptively call our banks. (despite never having to do that on any other e-commerce site on the entire internet)

Could be your credit card company too. I highly doubt this is some cover-up / conspiracy by Verizon because they took too many pre-orders. They just push back the ship date if that's the case, not make up some story about a failed credit card payment.

When Verizon charges your cc, it does not say "Verizon" as the merchant, but says something along the lines of "Telephony Equipment". I say it's good for the cc issuer to be cautious of the charge. This would be a good question for Verizon as wo why it does not show "Verizon".

In addition, if your cc is declined, Verizon will send an email requesting you contact them and provide updated information. It's up to you to do so.

OP, the rep told you the ship date was the 19th, but you canceled your pre-order, ordered again, and now your upset the ship date is the 19th?

my charge for my 16gb showed up as Verizon(see attachment). When I ordered my Tbolt on 1 year contract, Verizon claimed that my CC was declined in an e-mail (see attached), I called AMEX, they said that they had no record of it. So I called Verizon and they said that they could not "fix" the order, but placed another identical order for me (except that the incompetent CSR switched it to a two year contract without telling me anything). I only found out when I tried to activate the phone and it said the 2 year contract bit. took me over an hour with a csr who then claimed to fix it (they changed my contract term to 1 year, but upgrade was still left at the 20 month mark). when ordering my gs3, i couldn't upgrade even though I was off-contract. Took me about 80 minutes with the csr who finally fixed it and let me order.

Anyway, my point being is that they should fix your order. At the very least, if they can't give you the same ship date due to their error, then I would ask for compensation.

On Friday 6th I received an automated call from citibank wanting me to confirm purchase from Vzw." Press 1 to confirm 2 to deny". Message wasnt very clear sounded like Cdw and I almost denied my preorder. An other accounts I've had fraudulent charges glad they're being cautious.Receiving phone tomorrow :)

If you go to the verizonwireless.com website, it says preorders for the Galaxy S III ship by 7/11. Not sure why it would be pushed back to the 19th.

32gb has 7/19 as the ship by date.

EDIT: Showed 7/19 earlier tonight and now is 7/11. Maybe they got some more devices in. :)

Could it be that VZW is canceling pre orders that were trying to beat the June 28 deadline? I have no knowledge of anything like this happening, but I sure wouldn't put it past them. For the record I was not affected by this issue. I have not ordered 1 yet.

That's even more confusing because I went in to order like I was a new customer and it showed ships by 7/19 on that page (screen shot above) while the page that you showed where people just browse shows 7/11. LOL! This is too funny.

Try and see what you get. Click on the GS3 on the main page and select pre-order. And follow the steps like a new customer (also shows the same for existing customer).
