Just checked out reviews..

And through TMobile, reviews are terrible. Bad battery life, sluggish, camera issues, etc.

I thought this was supposed to be the phone of the year?

I should of kept the pre-order, but thought I wanted to go back to iPhone, mistake.

Now I'm stuck getting the cheaper 128gb model. Hope the 8gb ram isn't a bad thing.

Public customer reviews are usually the worst possible place to look for objective, unbiased data. Not only are they often filled with trolls, but for every unhappy person that writes a review, there will be 10 that are happy and just haven't bothered to write a review because everything is as expected. Also, people are FAR more likely to take the time to write about negative experiences than positive ones because they feel they need vindication. Its just human nature.

On top of this, you have no idea what that person's technical ability is, what troubleshooting steps they may have gone through, etc. before they go and write their one-star review. Generally, people like to put zero effort into actually learning about a new product, and when they don't get the desired result within the first few minutes of ownership, they panic.

I am a professional photographer and I used to do a lot of technical support for both drones and digital cameras. I can tell you that more than 90% of the problems I saw were user error, because most people are simply unwilling to take the time to understand what they purchased. Not a direct comparison obviously, but much of the electronics world is like this. If people read the manual, I would have been out of a job - no exaggeration. Those are not the kind of folks you want to have influencing a purchase decision.

The best places to get info are model-specific enthusiast forums (like this one), unbiased professional reviews, and most importantly your own experience during the return window. The last place I would go to read reviews on a phone I was considering would be public reviews from a cellular provider. Best to form your own opinion unless you have come across some objective, verifiable information that happens to be a deal-breaker for your specific usage.

As someone who has owned the phone for almost a month, I have not experienced any issues whatsoever from your list.

Battery life is subjective among Android users. However no one can deny that Apple is the leader in battery life. Their whole eco system is designed to throttle and smooth to get the most out of their batteries. Personally I'm not expecting great things from the battery life on my S22 Ultra just because I plan to turn on all of the high level stuff that will drain the battery but make the phone great. I have about 3 videos saved in my YT account with tips and tricks for what needs to be turned on and off, with all of their disclaimers that I'm only going to get an hour and a half of SOT. It'll be the smoothest, prettiest, fastest device for the time. LOL.

Not sure why anyone would pay $1200 for a phone and gimp everything great about it just to eke out a little more battery life. This is why I won't even consider getting one now.

I totally agree with you! Battery life and performance, despite the objective specs, are very subjective amongst Android users. Apple is definitely the leader in superb battery life -- not that I always approve of their methods -- and if you have tips and tricks to help out in that regard with your S22 Ultra, so much the better! Let us know when you get it and how you are liking it!

This is so spot on. I do some tech support with my job, and I'd even go higher than 90% being user error. Folks are always coming in saying "insert product here" is junk because they literally don't know how to use it, nor do they even bother with a basic internet search that would show them how to enable/disable/use the so-called garbage they bought.

I say this all the time, but people who are too dumb or unwilling to learn shouldn't buy things they know nothing about. I have no problem helping people with things they don't understand at work, but there has to be a little patience or simple trouble shooting done on their own before just slamming items at me saying it's garbage and I am terrible at my job.

With all of the talk I expected day one to be less than stellar but to my surprise it was actually comparable to my S21 Ultra. I charged it a little between switching and having to leave the house and ended up at 95 - 97%. Basically a full charge. I got 7+ hours of SOT and finished the day around 15%. I turned the display up to max and did not disable Samsung's Game Optimizer. For me it's one of those things that if it isn't broken don't fiddle with it type things. I don't do FPS games or anything that requires super high RAM or frame rates so for me if it saves me a little battery and doesn't improve anything noticeable why mess with it.

In the meantime things have been very nice and smooth, no issues. I had some... lag-ish type issues for the first hour or two, my guess is from all of the downloading and updating in the background, but that all passed. I haven't noticed any issues since. We'll see.

Thank you for your review! Sounds like battery life is holding up well -- your SOT is great! I agree with you -- if it ain't broke, don't fix it!
